How to Change Final Drive Belt on Right Side Drive?

Hi everyone. I have 0n 05 Chopper with right side drive. I was cleaning the bike today and noticed a small chunk of rubber missing on the outside of the drive belt. Bike has 13,000 miles so I figured I'd replace the belt. The service manual doesn't show how to do this, but it looks like I may have to remove the swingarm. Has anyone done this? Any tips or suggestions on brand of belt would be appreciated, too. Looks like a lot of folks are using Gates or the Panther belts. Thanks in advance.

Pull the covers off the axle both side and loosen the shaft bolt. I remove the rear caliper seeing where the shims are behind the mounting bolts so they can be put back. Loosen the tag bracket so you can get the caliper out. Remove the set screws that cover the the set screws that adjust the axle. Back them out counting the turns. Remove the axle nut and slide the rear axle out paying attention where the spacers go on the shaft. Remove the tire and take the belt off.

I dont have a chopper model; but i thought you were crazy thinking about my K9...:D
So while out looking over my service manual (nothing in there - no surprise) I happened to glance over at the wifes Coyote and I was like wtf...lol, sure looks like you'd have to pull the right side pivot shaft at least on that one...(250 rear also) - dunno. ha
Anyway, looks like Nomad may have set ya straight on the Chopper model by now.

You are going to have to pull the swing arm pivot shaft and get the spacer out on the right side then the belt will come off. That's the only way to do this. In fact you might even want to pull the starter. This will make it easier to get to the spacer tube that goes from one side of the frame to the other.

yep that's what I did (pulled the starter). Before you do any of this make sure you can loosen the pivot bolt. I couldn't any which way I tried and I don't have an impact. I only found out after taking half the bike apart. Then had to put it back together and hand over to someone else who had the tools. Bummer.
