How to adjust throttle grip

2 issues:

1. Throttle grip on my 06 K9 suddenly decided to become sticky. Meaning when I let go of it to shift, it remains where its as if I have a throttle lock, doesn't operate freely and return to its idle position. Any fix?

2. the two cables coming out from the bottom of the throttle housing seem wobbly/free play. Is it suppose to be like that or is something wrong?

The two cables for the throttle should be loose. They are held in the throttle housing by a small C-clip (one each). If this suddenly happened, try moving both cables back and forth all the way to the carb to see if it doesn't get better. If so, lube your cables. Also check your throttle has some movement on the handle bar back and forth along the bar. If you don't have a throttle lock, then it sounds like a rub somewhere.

I would stick with the simple stuff before you start any disassembly of the throttle. They can be little buggers once you start taking it apart and items disappear on the floor or even down the handlebar tube.

If the simple fixes don't help, you will need to very carefully take the two halves of the brake body apart. Like Nuke said, there are very small pins that guide the two halves into proper alignment and they will fall out and be lost forever if you are not very careful. There is also a wire that goes into the brake lever to turn on the brake light so you will have to be very careful not to jerk the wire out of the housing. While holding the two halves in your hand, look for massive wear of the throttle grip where it meets the two halves. I have seen that happen on at least one bike that I fixed and the parts had to be replaced due to excessive wear. If no excessive wear, check for dirt causing the parts to not move freely, clean and lubricate, and put it back together.
This is done best by having a very patient helper that does not mind helping you hold the parts for an extended period while you inspect, clean, lubricate, and put it all back together.

Thank you ALL very much. its fixed. I took everything apart, had to use a steel wool to sand/clean the handle bar where the throttle grip rests and inside the grip. it was just dirty and looked like some glue or something. anyways, clean it, lubed everything and put back together. smooth sailing.

again, I appreciate all y'all taking the time to help out.
