Place a nice soft towel on the floor or work bench where you'll be able to get at it later. If you don't trust yourself, get someone you can hand the gas tank to.
First pull your 4-3/16" allen bolt mounts on the gas tank. Turn petcock to off. Remove your gas line clamp at the petcock.
Wrap your speedo with a towel like shown here from when I was putting the tank back on.
With the handlebars turned and you sitting on the bike.
Carefully lift the gas tank up. It will come out. You must pull towards you to remove it from under the speedo. It takes some smoothness.
Hand it off or carefully place it on the said towel. Be carefull not to turn on the petcock during this or you will be unhappy and smell like gas.
Trace the speedo wires from the pod thru the tripple clamps and to the wiring under the tank. You will have to snip a few zip ties. Unclip the harnesses.
Now remove the 2 - 3/16" allens that hold the stem to the handlebars. I used a set of long ball ended allens for a ratchet.
Once that has been unbolted work the wires out of the tripple clamps and you'll have the pod and stem off the bike.
Now you can remove the stem from the pod with the 2 - 5/32" allens
Now pull the 5/64" allen to remove the gauges from the pod.
You'll end up looking like this
Once you un-clip the harnesses, Remove your hex head nylon nuts and pull the bracket from the setup.
The speedo slides in from the front. Swap the speedo gauge and re-install the bracket, you will see that its dumby proof. There are notches for everything to fit together. Add some di-electric grease to the connections and clip back together.
