I drove down to the factory the friday before labor day in '09. I took the tour and found the bike that I wanted on the showroom floor. I could have bought used but I wanted a brand new ride and they gave me a deal that I could not refuse on an '09 ridgeback w/ chrome pkg. I feel it was a gamble but I could care less since I am not trying to make money on this and I do not plan on selling unless the offers people make me go up to point where I cannot refuse anymore. If you dig it, just get. At least I left the dealership thinking that I somehow helped a cool company out somewhat.

I still think it all goes back to what I said early in this thread

The thrill of the first ride is priceless

I like ur comments PurpleDog ! And they are right. I have spent a fortune on mine since i have owned it, and i will never get my money back no matter what. So buy and enjoy and forget about the money! you cant be that bad off if you were willing to pay $40k in the 1st place. just my 2p worth....

Not a dog, but my comments.

I have ridden probably 70-80k miles in the past 7 years. All on nice, but normal bikes.

I have ridden my chopper 2k of those mile. In those 2k miles I have been video'd twice on the road. Had all sorts of comments and questions and a hell of a lot more thumbs up than anything else I have ridden.

So is the $20k chopper more of an ego boost than the $60k street glide, hell yeah!

I got the chopper since my SG was in the shop again for warranty engine work. I could rent an HD for $800 a week, or buy the chopper for $400 a month. I could not buy another truck for that much, and that was my other option.

I made the right choice. :2thumbs::cheers::flag::hi:

Listen Don; don’t fret about resale value or parts. The site here is very resourceful and self sustaining. The majority of us have extra parts or know where to get them in case of the need (vendors who are members here). With the question of resale value in today’s economy, if you buy anything new you’re going to get screwed no matter how you look at it. If you bought the bike with a thought of making a profit or breaking even, then that’s the wrong reason to by these bikes or any other thing for that matter these days. In today’s world, especially our site, it’s a “you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours”. Our vendors and members are very supportive. There’s a wealth of knowledge here and a source for parts you can’t imagine. I believe this partnership will grow stronger and even better as the economy continues its unsteady course.
Well done. :cheers: Buy what you like. I bought mine 2 months ago knowing they were in trouble when I bought. Got a decent deal I think at 5 grand below MSRP. S&S motors will be around and Baker drives aren't going anywhere I don't think. I have just basic mechanical skills but I'm willing to learn. Like I said on another post. "Its a labor of love and I'm willing to go out in the garage and finger f**k it on a regular basis"

If it is in your price range buy it, if not buy used. If your looking for an investment this is not the way to go.

I ride a 7 year old Mastiff that still gets thumbs up where ever I ride. I have replace tires, rebuilt the carb and learned to do my own oil changes along with a few other things along the way. I have owned several Harleys over the years and have never gotten the pleasure out of them as I have with my old dog.

The bottom line is to get out there ride and enjoy what ever motorcycle you have. Life is to short to pole vault over mouse turds.

Just my opinion,

Whatever, fact is you alleged in April you were in the process of purchasing a new BDM despite knowing the state of the company right....{nice intro btw, glad to meet ya}

Your probably not a complete da since you've retired at 47, but now have plenty of time to research and think about your decision. Maybe your mom, dad, girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, man partner, dog or cat is questioning your sanity - who knows...:D

So you jump back on and ask 3k people you don't know and likewise don't know you if you've made the right decision basically. You at least wanted thoughts on it and you got 'em. Does that make me classless because I pointed out you appear to lack the genital fortitude to make a decision and stick to it? Maybe. Does it make me a dickhead? No - I'm a dickhead for other reasons.

Nobody here can predict what your bike will be worth 2, 6, 8 months from now or 8 yrs from now, but you know that too.

:loony::loony: somebody open the back door and sweep some of this shit outside. :roll::roll::roll: :cheers::cheers:

the way the economy is right now, most houses aren't even a good hedge against depreciation, let alone a motorcycle, or any type of motorized vehicle. buy what you like and stop worrying about it.

don't worry, be happy:zwhistle::zwhistle::zwhistle::zwhistle:

I just purchased a 2005 Ridged back with custom pipes with only 1200 miles for 15,000, but I always let someone drive of the depreciation. I couldn't build one for what I payed.
And I love this bike!!

Sorry to bust your nut Rubwhore but I can work anything you throw too me !! Opinons are like assholes evryone has one !!! Was asking for input not Dick head responces !!
No...it sounds like you wanted 'your' opinions coming out of everyone else's mouth. When you open it up for everyone's opinions, be prepared for whatever comes your way.

This is a great Forum for Big Dog owners and enthusiasts, but it's not for the "thin skinned" nor the faint of heart. Try a Harley forum for that clientlele.

Sorry, but you asked for my 'opinion' so here it is: chill dude..life's too short not to try and enjoy every minute.
Ride safe, and ENJOY!!!:whoop:

Damn

You guys suck, this looks like a monkey fucking a football!

Don50 if you have to ask that question then the bike aint for you bro! Head over to the Furby store. I bought mine in 06 used with 3k miles and a year warranty left on it. I paid 24k and at the time that was good deal at the time. I Owe more than it’s worth and I don’t give a fuck. I love the bike and I will never sell it. Everyone here knows I have had several mechanical issue with it and I still don’t care! If you ever ride one of these bikes and I mean ride it you wont either.
If you have to ask how much then it’s not for you!!!! Walk away….

PS if you paid 40K in this market you got fucked, hope ya got the reach around...
Just sayin'
