I was riding today (06 k9) going about 30mph when the horn starting going off, my turn signals started to flash. I quickly turned the key to off then back on hit the run button and the bike started right up. Never came to a stop. I was wondering what this might be. I think I have read something about this but can't find it anywhere. Need some help why the bike would do this. Just changed out my regulator. Any help guys:bang:

Hey Big, I remember that happening to me some time ago. Think it was when my bike was in the new stages. From a rolling start I went through 3 or 4 gears & she crapped out on me. I thought I may have hit the rev limiter or something. Calmed down after that & she did it shortly there after. Started right up & all was fine. Guess it starts with the letters EHC but that was the only time I can remember it happening on my 06 K-9.

Did you have to replace the ehc.

also, something simple, with all the vibration the battery terminals just get loose sometimes. check often.

find the circuit breaker .. there is 2 # 10 or larger wires on it,, 1 from the vr the other goes to the + side of the batt.. feel around on the breaker for a button.. press the button you will feel a click if it resets.. the button may be on the bottom of the breaker

Hey Big, the circuit breaker is on the left side of the battery (06 K-9 would be on the battery post side) it is easier to remove the cover (mine has the 2 push pins per side). You just have to remove the left side battery box cover (painted cover that matches the bike). There will be a circuit breaker mounted there, one wire from the VR the other goes up to the positive terminal. On the bottom of the circuit breaker is a little black button. Push it & see if you feel it click very slightly (it was tripped) or if it pushes with absolutely no resistance (usually not tripped).

Why did you change the regulator? Did you change it yourself? Like the others said, check the ckt breaker under the seat in front of the battery. The button is on the bottom side of the ckt breaker. You can not see it. Just feel underneath, it is a very small button. Another way to check is with a voltmeter if you have one. Start the bike, and measure across the battery terminals. You should read a little over 14vdc. If you don't either your regulator (which was put in new) isn't rectifying, or the ckt breaker is tripped or defective, or the wire from the voltage regulator to the ckt breaker is bad. Good luck!

I'm confused guys. I own an 06 K9 and they replalced the breaker setup with a 40amp clooge of a fuse due to a recall. Am I missing something? Is there another breaker in there that I am not seeing?

Nope, your fuse replaced the CB due to the slow response of the CB. Fuse is much faster and trips before the EHC fry's.

Mine did the same thing and it was the battery connection. I polished the cable ends up with a brush on my dremil and has been fine since.

Mine does the same thing have never found out what is causing it, been going on for months. The only thing that I have not done is change EHC.

Its the EHC...I had the same thing...same bike as yours. Just replaced mine, all is good so far. The EHC I just put in is REV. J, I had REV.A...I would like to think they made enough improvements with so many revisions.
