Just get the new one chromed. Not a perfect solution and your out some money but a least you get to ride in piece. I wouldn't sell the bike because of a bad back wheel. Does suck though. Sorry to hear

well got the recall on the back wheel, called bdm and spoke with customer service, was real nice and friendly with them, explained i had a bike with this recall but i just had the wheels chromed, there responce oh well. i said really .this just shows what kind of crappy manufacture we deal with.. she later stated bdm never had a chrome package for that model, which i think she is wrong,i then ask what could they do about this (real nicely i must ad) she stated well we didnt tell you to chrome it! i then said i didnt tell you to build a piece of shit asshole! that wasnt so nicely... then i hung up. bdm you are a joke! and anybody that doesnt like this oh well,i was being nice and could only take so much. they suck period!

Keep in mind that Big Dog did not manufacture the wheels. They will probably buy the new wheel up front, swap it out with the recalled units and send the bad wheel back to get reimbursed for the new one.

Try calling Performance Machine, if that is who made your wheels, about the situation and maybe they will step up.

They are the ones who fucked up in the first place.
Actually on all Big Dogs with the exception of a couple of "special edition" models Big Dog is the manufacturer of the wheel. Big Dog buys the blanks then has a local machine shop cut them. PM has nothing to do with the wheels in question and calling them will get you nowhere.

I'm just one of the show truck drivers and I don't know the legalities of who is responsible for the burden of the expense on the recall but before coming to work at Big Dog I spent 10 hours a night standing in front of CNC mill cutting wheels for Big Dog.

I have an older dog Show, so everything on mine is PM. Should have assumed but was unaware that BDM went propriatary on the wheels as well.

Good info

Thanks

In 2004 you could pay an additional $750 for the PM hooligan wheel, pulley, rotor option as well as the chance to buy the 117 option standard or polished.

It cracks me up how someone trashes BDM when they don't get thier way. Should they chrome the wheel for you? Hell no. You chromed it, not them. No one would ever do that. Not even car makers would do such a thing. BDM took care of a bad rim that you bought. That's awesome they did that. Get over yourself. You loved the bike enough to buy it, then spend more money on it by chroming stuff, now BDM sucks? :nopity:

Bdm has been more than helpful to me and have done several things they did not have to such as, replaced my clutch cable and paid for the labor as well as replaced a lower fork leg that the chrome had chipped, all I had to pay is labor for that and it was well after the chrome warranty was up. I think if you look at all the things big dog has done for people, and all the things people say they have not done...Its seems in my opinion that they are way ahead in the What they HAVE done catagory... I think that Barhopper is right on.... hell no they should not pay to have it chromed.

So now you have to wonder who pays for the recall, millenium tool or if it was bigdogs design then they would be responsible. Can't expect the manufacturer of the wheel to pay because they made a part to your print.

dennis what are you talking about? i spoke to a female and i stated i didnt tell bdm to build a piece of shit asshole. thats what i said. maybe we should discuss your sexual preference, guess you had something stuck in your throat, maybe a little parched? and barhopper stop stiring the pot asshole,if you had your wheels done you would feel the same way,if you new anything about a real bike you would know this is a overpriced bike with garbage parts except for the ones not made by bdm or that were to there specs then they are junk.i should of purchased a real set of wheels like pm,but i did like the design and to have them chromed was alot cheaper then buying the pm's . who would of ever thought the wheels would be bad on these bikes, just shows the time and workmanship they (bdm) put into there bikes. 10 hours i guess!
