Help me figure out my noise....

Hey guys.

So I've had a noise for coming from my 03 chopper for a while now. Not crazy loud, but almost sounds like a hollow knocking noise. It seems to be a lot worse one the bike is warmed up and riden for a while. The noise only happens when I accelerate in 4th gear so obviously I'm guessing it's transmission related. It doesn't make noise in any other gear other than fourth. I initially thought it was primary related until just recently I realized it was only happening in fourth which is my main cruising gear. Have you guys ran into this issue before??

The first thing I would do is check and see if the primary chain is adjusted right, then we'll go from there.

Also, I see you have the 03, which has the Mad Clown rims. This will be a long shot, but lets make sure, check your belt sprocket for cracks.

Would either of these only make noise in a single gear??

It's a matter of torque applied. Noises will come for a assortment things. We're going to start with the easiest cheapest first, then go from there.

Fair enough. I was planning on changing my primary fluid this season anyway.

How fast are you going in 4th gear when you hear the knocking.

Any speed, doesn't matter as long as it's in 4th gear.

It may be possible that youv'e chipped a tooth on a gear, it's just not common for 4th gear.
