Help, Can't seem to catch a f*cking break

Are the front wheel hubs different sizes from year to year? Cant catch a break with this repair of the front end of my scoot. Basically,
I installed new lowers that I got and that all went perfect, New lowers and axle. mounted my wheel and wheel spacers (Spacers from my 2003) only to find out that my brake caliper wouldn't work since the newer forks have a direct bolt on style, I picked up a new direct bolt PM Caliper to the tune of $ 450.00 and go to install it and it won't fit. Line the caliper up on the rotor and I'm a good 3/8 from being able to slide the caliper behind the fork mounting bracket. My wheel is dead center between the forks..
Any suggestions, Maybe a longer axle spacer on the brake side?? All this bs because of 2 sheared brake Caliper mount bolts in my old forks.

Curtis, I got new lowers. Turns out though that one of the screws in the new legs was rounded and will need to be drilled out. I originally tried to just put my old caliper bracket on the new legs and that's when I noticed one was rounded.

Irish people do better with an axe and a hammer, leave the brake job to someone else bro... Curtis would solve it for ya in no time flat.....

He even solves the intricate questions Vikings seems to ask (Don't ask, as an irish you would never understand) without hesitation.

IOW, (In other Words for you irish people), just follow Curtis's advice and your BDM will continue to roll for a very long time.

Curtis, you can just give me a discount on my next order....:roll::roll:

Its not a brake job, being that your one of those Florida Vikings I should have figured you would only understand the word "brake" out of everything I typed. lol Its been a whole ordeal.

Curtis, I had a buddy remove the sheared screws from my originals. The problem has been matching up the k9 lowers and all that entails to my 03 chopper.

Still looking for a resolution. I may just put in a longer spacer on the brake side. with out messing with the integrity of the forks or the axle. Was just hoping for a few suggestions in case someones been done this road before.

I agree that I may be the first. I searched and searched and got nothing.

And the ball breaking is just that. I am a huge ball breaker. I live by it, so I dont mind when it comes back to me. it all in fun.

I feel for ya Jay, just went through the same sheared bolt issue myself only with an 05 Pitbull. Curtis was nice enough to share what he would do and I finally finished this evening. The real fly in my ointment was the tap I broke off trying to fix it on the bike back when it first sheared. Was a crappy Harbor freight tap - got it all apart and started drilling...took me a few mins to remember the tip of the tap was in there. Cobalt bit wouldn't even scratch it. Ended up using a diamond bit on Dremel and 2 hours later I finally had a hole...lol.

As for your offset issue, I haven't shopped calipers but is there different options for mounting offset? If I understand what you propose with the larger spacer, your front tire will be offset a bit, not sure if that could cause a handling issue but someone on here must know. If I ever run into the engineer that decided on the detachable caliper mount...and then used 2 tiny little bolts....

Thors My issue has been with the upgrading from 2003 torpedo style fork sliders to the 2006 k9 spike style lowers. I went from a classic pm mount for the caliper and bracket to fit a 84-99 softtail to a direct mount caliper for the new style. however the nothing has seemed to work out. I bout a new pm direct mount caliper but I think is the wrong one. been looking for a part number from a 2006 k9 not the bdm part number

Jay there are 2 styles of forks and calipers. '00-up and '99 down. You gotta match forks and caliper style. Verify your fork tubes aren't bent.
