Headlight Hi/Lo Issue

Last year, bike had one of Jake's HID lights in it, but that went out and replaced back with the stock bulb. Afterwards, anytime it was switched to Hi, it would not go back to Low beam. Just recently, harness melted and replaced with new ceramic harness, but still have the same problem. I checked all connections and even swapped out the actual switch and problem still remains. Do you guys think the harness needs replaced or is it some sort of voltage issue????

I did try the HID again with the new harness and it flickered a couple times before going into safe mode/Hi beam.

The bulb is good, right? And after you start the bike the low beam is ON until you switch to high beam, right?

If the answer to both questions is YES... do you have continuity between the control switch (yellow wire) and B-25 on the EHC?

Yes & Yes. Not sure how to go about and check that. Not very familiar with the EHC, since none of our bikes have had any EHC issues (3 ridgebacks).

Have you gotten this fixed? My bike now won't go to hi-beam. Flickers on the speedo and the light flashes but won't stay on. Any idea's?

Still no solution. There's nothing wrong with the speedo headlight indicator. Everything works normal on it......just won't go back to low beam after it's on high beam. If you shut the bike off and restart it, then it's back to low beam. Weird. No idea what to do. Installed a new H4 harness and swapped out the switch....still got the problem.

Generally a flickering High Beam indicator indicates an issue with the bulb.

I had the same issue ahwile back. I could go to high beam, but not back to lo. Had to shut the key off and leave it on lo. I replaced the hand controls (since my horn didnt work either) and of course nothing changed. My license plate light starts flickering...of course "the ehc is bad". I replace the ehc with the PDM, fire the bike up and the exact same problems, but now with a new PDM. After a lot of troubleshooting, I found the clip under the gas tank from the left hand controls to the backbone harness was bad. I got a new wire harness from the controls to the backbone and fixed the prob. (Then I soldered in new LEDs to take care of the flickering license plate light...)

Thanks. That was my next step before thinking it could be the ehc.

This is a good example of why I tell guys to bust out a multimeter!!! If you had you'd have found the problem without spending a ton of money on a PDM you didn't need...
