Hey Mike, I have something similar to your rim. My front rim was bent when I bought bike used 2 year ago. My rim has a hiccup about the width of a dollar bill.
I put a tube in the tire because it was losing air about every 2-3 weeks. Have not had an issue since. Front wheel does not shake or vibrate at any speed. There was no visible damage or cracks inside the rim when I added the tube. Just hoping the tube will keep tire inflated and not break the seal while riding.
That shop that you linked to would be the next step for me to have it repaired if it became a problem.
Good Luck on the outcome.

take it to someone that has a tire machine to hold it and beat it back inline with a 4lb mallot. I used to straighten steel car wheels this way.
JUST HIT IT A QUARTER HARDERIf I can't get it fixed I just might do that too. I only have a three pounder though!![]()
What about rigging something with a small bottle jack and some 2x4's? Up agaisnt a cement wall? So you can try and apply the pressure in the correct spots. If you have access to a press you could make a jig in the shape of the rim and press it back to shape. As Brad said, aluminum doesn't like to take a beating. Personally, i would bite the bullet and spring for a new rim.
Might work. Only problem if it fails at high speed, where will Mikey end up?What about rigging something with a small bottle jack and some 2x4's? Up agaisnt a cement wall? So you can try and apply the pressure in the correct spots.
