Didn't really know where to put this subject so hear goes. I'm looking for a way to make my 08 K9 have some more clearance in turns...I scrub bad...especially my pegs...what options is there? I'm considering shaving down my big radius exhaust an inch to help with clearance also...any ideas?

SLOW DOWN? Hell, my Big Radius drag pulling out of parking lots, haha. I'd like to get more lift too somehow, or chop my pipes to get a little less dragging.

Tennessee's curvy roads rock, and I hate that dragging sound on my pipes...scares the shit out of me, haha.

Hey Trav, on my '99 Bulldog the shocks had a adjustable length which would change the ride height. I haven't looked to see if the '09 is adjustable but that may be a option for you. My understanding is that the pipes were redesigned to stop that problem, I get into my pegs but never my pipes.

LOL, well since you haven't had the pleasure of scraping your pipes, it sounds like a huge beer can being crushed and when your focused on making a turn/curve it'll throw ya off guard, haha.

Good times...

It does look like they sit higher than the pipes on my bike. I may try to adjust them.

The Big Radius will eventually grind off enough to where you wont even notice. ask me how i know :D.. but like Bowhunter said you mite check to see if you have ride height adjustments. Mine does.

Try Adjusting your shocks it may give you the 1/2 inch or so you are looking for. :eek: How big are you, :lol: I am 6'3" at 224 and I have planty of clearance :lol:

I think I'm really just leaning WWWAAAYYY too much to be honest...I feel like I'm trying to ride it like a cbr...even catch myself sometimes sticking my friggin knee out like I'm gonna drag it or something. I'm hitting my pipes so hard that it almost lifts the rear tire off the ground, lol! I'm 6'1, 235pounds by the way.

your k-9 shocks underneath are adjustable.This will bring your ride height up.I had the same issue on my k-9's.also I was bottoming out on bumps,and scraping.

K-9 Scratches Very Bad

I have only had my 07 K-9 for a couple of weeks and was a little shocked when I saw the frame damage from scrapeing. I believe some of it was caused by some speed bumps near my place of work. I don't have the painting tools to sand the frame down and do the job right. My goal here was to just try something to keep the chipped paint from chipping even more and of course to stop the corrosion of the bare metal.

1) First I used automotive touch up paint on the bare areas and let dry
2) Cut strips of grip tape and rounded the edges
3) Wiped frame down with degreaser and applied the grip tape
4) Hopefully the tape will stay on as its made for Truck running boards etc.

My goal here is to lessen the damage of future scrapes in hopes that the very rough tape will take some of the beating and save some of the paint. If I scrape again, I can just replace the tape. I thought this might be an easier approach than trying to paint it with undercoating etc. The tape is not noticeable when walking around the bike. Anyway we will see it this works out....

My K9 has Air Ride that probably isn't correct - meaning even at full pressure my bike is a low rider. Looks good with the fender sitting down close to the tire similar to the Ridgeback I guess; it took some getting used to...
Anyway, as others have said with the Big Radius I agree just let the road shape em. But when I had that VH 2/1 on there and hit the lower front pipe and lifted the rear tire off the ground on an off ramp; well, lets just say I knew I was riding hard enough...:D

I only caught the front pegs once that I recall though; that was at Deals Gap - kinda expected.

Frame drag; I keep the rust off by dragging frame cpl times a week...

I guess to be clear; don't use the Air Ride setup I have, (and no, can't say for sure what model it was meant for)....:D

If you push on the outside of the handlebars going into a turn you will not have to lean as hard. try it, push on outer part of grips.

My bike aint no rice burner, the only scrapes on mine was the old Vance and Hines curve feelers i had.I take it easy on the dog.I ride my other bike like i stole it.

Man that sucker is LOW! Does look cool though! Do you know who does make a good air ride system for the k-9?

I just bought my K-9 in Raleigh NC and took her back to bama - beautiful rolling hills you have out there!
