What type of editing will you be doing? Adobe Premier IMHO is one of the best $$$$
I would assume that ther is some proprietary software that comes with it??
Heck windows live is free and works well to put together a vid with some effects.

I'm going to buy one in the next few days. Heading out to Arizona to ride for 5 days w/ Moespeeds and a few others. for those that do have the cam, does the one with the motorsports accy's have a bar mount?

I did a few videos with my go pro cam on my bike. havent gotten the time to edit it yet since i got tied up on my work and my sons baseball games. go pro is the best camera to get for your epic rides no doubt!!! I used it for wakeboarding as well as hunting, fishing and many other activities. some of the best mount for the ride are a few... mount on your handle bar just above your headlight, mount on your front part of the frame (my fav.) Mount on the fork, mount on your back part of the frame by your license plate (careful when you make your turns, scraped my a bit for turning too hard.) another cool thing is this...the video looks awesome when you have your cam close to the ground. best way to make your videos is to experience them alot cuz thats what editing is all about!! :2thumbs::cheers:

I bought one but once again haven't used it yet. in time. The product looks good and the mounts are pretty easy.

I have one of the HD GoRpo and they are great Point of View Cameras. I have a few others also, but the GoPor is one of the best.

Personnaly I like Sony Vegas Pro for edit such, but allot depends on how creative I want to be. For general YouTube and shorts Window Movie Maker will do just fine as will Adobe Premier, Pinnacles and similar. Many good programs can be gotten for under $100 or even free.

If you find yourself doing allot of vids and want to get deeper in depth with edits, then recommendation is to get a good middle of the road program, learn to use it and the basic non-liner editing first.

There is some good suggestion for mounting and the nice thing about GoPro is that they sell many different mounts and kits that will allow you to put it almost anywhere. From personal experience the helment is always good due to the head acts as a natural gyro-stabilizer. Other spots will have to be tried to see how they come out ( you will be surprised of how the vibaration on a motorcycle will effect the camera in some spots).

One thing I do not care for on the Go Pro is that it has a internal mic with no options to use an external, so sometime the wind noise will make the audible carp. Experiment and you will find what works best.

On the editing, just be preapred to spend lots of time doing edits and then wating for the rendering and final package. Also recomment to get a second battery.

Have fun and look forward to some nice ride vids.

To add to Fiber's edit/rendering comments keep in mind HD video is a resource hog so the better your pc (processor/memory/storage etc)... the less time it will take to output a final vid. Good luck and can't wait to see some KennyBob Productions :D

i finally got a GoPro Hero. i havent used it with my DOG, but and wanted to test it out and make my first clip on my supermoto. i did it on my macbook pro. here the vid to give you an idea of what someone like me who knows nothing about editing can do using "iMovie".
i think it turned out pretty good....lol

That's a sweet movie! Looks like a pro did it!
thanks man!
it was really easy. my brother gave me a quick run down on how to use it and helped me get it started. the apple software/mac makes it simple. after that it took about 4 or 5 hours and quite a few drinks to get all the editing done, the clips in the order i thought i wanted, and add music.

next week at work i showed my brother and he wanted to change the song, so we tested a few out, and once we found the right song we had to tweek it a bit to get the timing right so the riding would flow with the music. that took about another hour or so. and that was it.

Well I got the HD Hero2 Outdoor Edition,3 extra batterys, the LCD screen and other stuff. I downloaded the CineForm Studio to edit with but not having much luck with that yet. I then downloaded Windows Live Movie Maker but the files don’t show up in it for some reason. I’ve been looking at Vegas Pro 11 as people recommend but it’s like $600.00
(Fibersnake must be rich)
I’m running a Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 975 @ 3.33GHz 64Bits Liquid cooled and the CineForm Studio choked it converting to AVI format. I have several hours of HD video already, just need to cut it down and add some music. HD kicks computers @ss

I was looking into a camera - so this is the recommended one?

I searched a while back it looks like there was a few failed attempts at group buys....

Fibersnake, are you using the waterproof back? I agree that the lack of input for an external mic sucks. But running the WP back does very well at eliminating wind noise. We run shifter karts right up to 100mph+ and the sound is mighty dang good.

I have the GoPro Hero 2 which is my second GoPro and I have no regrets what so ever. Great little camera with a lot of options that shoots great video and pics.

I use mine mainly for snowmobiling in the mountains but I've also used it on the Dog and for scuba diving.

Just won an auction on ebay for a GoPro Hero2 Outdoor Edition. Was looking at the Hero2 because it has an 11 megapixel camera (over the 5mp of the Hero), can do "burst" shooting (10 shots in 1 second), plus it indicates an external mic can be used. Looking forward to trying it out. By far, it seems to have the most mounting options than other cameras out there.
