RPM TO MPH CONVERSION
The following chart converts engine RPM to MPH. This is a guideline only.
Gear 2,000 ENGINE RPM 3,000 ENGINE RPM
1ST GEAR 16 MPH 24 MPH
2ND GEAR 22 MPH 32 MPH
3RD GEAR 30 MPH 44 MPH
4TH GEAR 38 MPH 58 MPH
5TH GEAR 48 MPH 72 MPH
6TH GEAR 55 MPH 83 MPH
Woo hoo and its a blastI didn't say that,
I have been over 83 MPH. What I am trying to say is that the speed is 83 MPH at 3000 RPM. I have been to 125 plus MPH on a few occassions!

I read somewhere on the S&S Website they recommend running these at 3k all day. They wish everyone ran them like that they say they last longer.I tore up my transmission bearings riding at too low rpm's, especially in 6th, figuring to save gas and maybe run cooler. Bad idea. These 117's are just too powerful. The torque has nowhere to go except to the bearings...good thing we caught it before it spun a bearing in the transmission case.
Poorer and wiser, these days that Dog runs 3000rpm and over...don't care what gear..it stays 3k+. Full throttle only in first and second...
Transmission seems happy too......
