Been on hiatus for a few months - mostly swamped and simply elsewhere. Glad to see this initiation, Eric. I am not sure what June of 2019 holds for me but I am watching this thread.

Oh, not sure if any of you all are into dirtbikes but just started out and there are a few trails near Flint Oaks. Maybe take a day and ride out there if you all are into that stuff (like I said, just throwing stuff out there). The wife will cage up so if things workout she can take the bikes and I can ride :).

I've got a dirty bike -- does that count?

So I am not much for super slab unless I NEED to get someplace. I also like to make an adventure out of things when I can. For those coming from parts of Texas, If you want to join, think about it. This is not set in stone and depends on the weather. Also since I am planning the Dave's gathering in May, I may shorten this a bit. Also Liferider made a comment as well.

13 hrs + Austin to Dallas = 2 days, right ?

I have never done a long road trip on 2 wheels, so I'm happy following on this one. Up to now my priorities for a road trip vehicle have been: 1. Quiet, 2. Good air conditioning and 3. Lots of cargo space. Bikes offer none of those. :)

And while I still have to work a regular job, I am very blessed with lots of vacation and a flexible schedule.

I disagree -- wonderful air conditioner -- as long as you are moving!
Cargo space -- just requires some creativity and planning -- Space Bags help a lot, so does shipping stuff to your final destination hotel and shipping stuff home!
Quiet -- well 2 out of three ain't bad!

Quiet - Ear plugs
Air Conditioner - Go faster
Cargo - Depends on how you pack.

Seriously, its all about the journey. Its about 4 hours to here. Ark has some awesome roads. Its early, but time flys.

Knows some things
The first day is always the hardest for me. Once I finely relax, I've gone 12 days straight with no problem. We pack light, shirts and under wear mostly. Jeans can be worn several days. Monkey Butt powder is a wonderful addition to have. Stop to rest before you get to tired, and drink lots of water.
Things to consider taking along:
eye drops
sting eze, for bee stings
sun screen
extra bungee cords
pocket full of hard candy
it wouldn't hurt to roll up a piece of foam rubber, to put on your seat, when your ass gets soar.
extra pair of glasses, and ear plugs
Make sure you check your air pressure, tighten battery cables, and mirrors

Some kind of extra padding is not a bad idea, those Big Dog seats can be hard on your ass... I have Airhawk for long trips. those do help specially if you have a scrawny small ass like I do.

Okay 3 questions. Is Dave's still a go in May, and the dates. Has a place been set in stone for the gathering?

May - I assume so since I have not heard anything else. I am making plans for that.
Gathering - Same place (Fall River). June 20 - 23rd. Shannon made a post already. I reserved my space already.
