Seat,
Raywood & I did a ride last summer (RE: 100 years of motorcycling)of 400+ mileson first day and half those were in excess of 90 mph,:D some around 115 with full camping gear. Just gotta get in yer "bubble". No windsheild. Them grasshoppers feel like a bridge hit ya at those speeds and make a mess like a semi hitting a deer. Cleanup at the next fuel stop about every 125 miles, or about an hour & 10 minutes. After we got to the event, set up camp, walked into town till about 2am and we were never sore, nor tired.
48 hours - 950 miles, the last 5 hours or so in HEAVY rain, still pushing 80-85 mph. No Windsheild.

Cav,
and we are old ppl! heh

See Ya!

My longest non-stop ride on my Big Dog was Escondido, CA to Reno, NV. 530 miles in 10.5 hours riding Hwy 395. I have rode 3 baby butt (1000mi 24hrs)and 1 iron butt (1500mi 24hrs) on other bikes.
Escondido to Reno wow I have done that drive 20 times. 395 through the Mohave desert to Mammoth, Bishop and on to NV. That is a haul in a car 8 solid hours, let alone on a bike.

Believe it or not but you get the best gas mileage at 100 mph in 6th gear.
We've proven it!!!! :D

My longest ride so far was from Northville to Laconia last summer. The ride took us four hours up and back for a total of 500+ miles. I was alittle nervous with a rigid frame, but surprising enough I was not sore at the end.

My longest ride, was a boys night out,
with the girls at home our first day turned out to be an 11 hour run.
our trip took us from the Tampa area to Ga, to S.C. then to N.C. and Tenn. we then headed back to Atlanta and then to the Tampa area again. somewhere between 1200 to 1500 miles in three days. (i don't remember for sure now) That was the best ride i have had in years.
we had no destination in mind, it was where ever the road took us. truth be told, there was several times we had no idea where we were. the only thing we looked for was the next gas station.
when we left Zephyrhills, we left the map on the dinning table.
I will tell you that at 6'1" i changed my k-9 up with extended forward controls, then with risers to pull the bars up and back another inch. i had a very comfortable ride with no problems at all.
we are planning our next ride for the spring, and by planning i mean, what day do we leave and when do we have to be back.
if you have never taken a road trip to no where, down two lanes roads with no hotels and actractions, to small little towns where the people wave and say good morning, then you have not really enjoyed all the pleasure of owning a bike.
bite the bullett and take that ride, it will be something you will never forget

Great Story Raywood!! I loved the numb hands portion. I've been in Memphis with numb hands! An hour at Sparks? You also broke the shortest stop at Sparks record as well!!!

Hey Ray, your my hero. My longest so far has been down to Daytona, riding all over down there and back home that night. About 450 for the day. A little stiff that night, but more due to the temperature than the bike.

I agree about the people. A buddy of mine and I rode out to a small town about 60 miles on the other side of the Hoover damn and stopped by the old VFW. They made us feel like movie stars in that place. It was actually a good time.
