Frustrated Wolf

I'm assuming you have EFI. The controller is S&S VFI...Any S&S dealer can get it for ya. Yours may be unlocked. I think someone else had a newer bike and the controller was not locked.
As he said but my 09 Wolf was locked.

Its a 09. From what I've read it is locked. I'll talk with Jeff from S&S Monday about what they have planned on the cam upgrade with unlocking the computer. They have been extremely helpful so far as everyone from this website as well. Thanks for all the input. Scott.

Any update? I assume they will want to replace the VFI..otherwise the other upgrades are kinda useless.

I'm curious about cams and any feedback on performance.

Another Wolf cam belt failure

My Wolf cam belt shredded 2 weekends ago with 3500 miles on the bike. I called S&S and they agreed to replace the cam belt, upgrade me to 569 performance cams (ez start), and replace the cam plate all under warranty.:up::up: Apparently they have a new cam plate for the xwedge as well although I don't know what it is supposed to do. They shipped all the parts to my dealer (new 569 cams already installed in the new cam plate) and are paying for the labor to get everything swapped out. As far as the VFI module, S&S says you only need a new fuel map (box file) which they sent to me. The filename of the new base fuel map they sent is: "Custom X121 569 cams 52mmTB TAC 2into2 exhaust CL Knk Control.box" MY VFI is stock and is locked, however, you can still install a new base map but cannot make any manual changes to it. S&S says this new base map they sent me is not EPA compliant. It is not exact to my bike since I have the V&H 2into2 exhaust and S&S intake runner BUT it is close enough given no other engine mods to allow the VFI to adapt to optimal performance just like the stock base map will adapt to a stock motor with only pipes and intake modified. I should get the scoot back this week and I will report back on performance after I've put a few miles on her.

Love the new 569 cams!

I finally got my wolf back from the shop and had a chance this past weekend to go on a ride. My dealer performed all the work and S&S covered the parts and labor. As others have reported, the ez start cams make a huge difference in starting. Before the cam swap, my wolf almost aways started hard. Now the motor cranks like the spark plugs are missing and fires instantly. I can definitely tell a significant difference in torque and power with the 569 performance cams and fuel map. S&S quotes 10 ft/pd torque increase at the rear wheel and I believe it. Scoot pulls like a freight train. Again, I have the stock VFI (locked). S&S supplied a new base fuel map (box file) which was easliy downloaded to the vfi module via their protunes software. The motor also sounds different with a throatier, deeper tone. This is a worthwhile upgrade for the power increase and ez starting.

Glad to hear all is good and you're back up and running. S&S...what a great company!!!

Thanks for the follow-up postings.

Yet another Wolf cam belt failure

My 2009 Wolf with approx 5K miles on it, suffered the dreaded cam belt failure. I have been following this topic for a couple of years now, so when my engine suddenly quit, I knew EXACTLY what had happened. I was left stranded more than 100 miles away from home, and had to be towed back on a flatbed.
I am in communication with S&S, and did not like the initial response I got from one of their Reps. I am trying to get them to provide me with the same business consideration (fix) that they provided to BDB forum members Scott and Wolfman in June & July of this year.
Will keep you all posted on outcome.
