Post your frame failure here, and give what details you can. We can help others know what to look for so they can keep an eye out on their bikes.

I don't know so I am asking the question. Is the frame on my Ridgeback thicker, stronger, speciality welds possibly to make it stand up to the beating the road must give it, seeing it has nothing like springs or shocks to damper the roughness of the road. I've rode it enough to realize I possibly plan my rides on the smoothest roads around here and always avoid the rough spots in the road when I see em' coming. The frame has to take a heck of a shock when you hit holes and rough spots. I was just wondering if they take the ridged frame to a different level of strength because of it.

I looked at my 2008 Ridgeback frame and found no visible cracks. It has taken some big hits by the roads in Louisiana. Ridgebacks don't have the same weld area in the swing arm area like a K9. It is all tubing back to the rear wheel. A big 330 back tire does provide some flex although minimal! We shall see over time. Riding a Ridgeback will automatically cause you to avoid really rough stuff to protect yourself.

Louisiana does seem to have rougher roads than usual.

2008 Mastiff with just over 29,000 miles on the clock. Frame cracked on 10 Sept 2013. I didn't hit any major pot holes and had just completed my normal commute to and from work, which is 76 miles round trip (mostly freeway travel). The crack wasn't visibily there on the 9th of Sept when washing the scoot. The crack is located on the left side just aft of the inner primary plate. I'm running a 4" Karata open belt drive.

I have gone over my Ridgeback carefully also and no cracks visible. As hard as I have hit some potholes I worry a lot. But so far so good. I feel for you guys as a cracked frame is a pain in the ass to repair correctly.

that looks like its on the swing arm,, I have seen a few that when the rear tire axle nut is loosened that the frame sprung out 1/8 to 1/4 inch,, to cure we added in spacers to take up the fit and eliminate stress ... that may be the cause of some of these issues..

I'm curious of how many you saw do this and were they all swing arm or rigid or both?

Mine is on the bottom frame rail, not the swingarm.

Looking forward to retirement
So from the yrs being posted, it appears to be frames of bikes in 06/07/08 but no older bikes like 02/03/04?

Based on the riding I have done, my 2008 Ridgeback frame should have cracked by now. But since it hasn't, I don't think it will.:whoop::whoop:
