Found a new way to change my oil. LiqiVac

I know you guys have seen this before, and most of you wont like it or use it, but for me, this thing is AWESOME..... So I thought some of you guys might want to hear about it.

This weekend I went to change the oil on my 03 chopper, and as I was trying to get at the clamp and plug on the drain hose, I burnt my wrist on the exhaust (I HATE WHEN I DO THAT).

I don't have a nice lift, so I have to do this on the floor. Sucks. Including getting a pan under the bike.

So I open up the J&P Cycle book and remembered seeing the LiqiVac, oil extraction system for $50.00...... I went to there website and found out Lowes has them for $32.00 LiquiVac . What the hell, I'll give it a try.

The new one has a valve right on the fitting instead of a plastic clamp on the hose. You close the valve, pump it up 20 times, drop the hose into the oil tank, and open the valve.

This thing emptied my oil tank in less then 5 minutes, including all the nasty shit at the bottom of the tank that never gets drained out. Best $32.00 I ever spent. No oil on the floor of the garage to wipe up. No trying to get that damn plug and clamp back on.

I know you guys with the newer dogs have a plug under the bike, but try to get a pan under it without lifting the bike up. Pain in the butt....... For the older dogs with that stupid plug and clamp...... Getting oil all over the frame, and burning myself...... No more for me. Fastest oil change I've ever done. I even got to ride for an hour yesterday with the temps in the low 50s, because I actually had time.

My buddy came buy to check it out, and after I was done, he went to Lowes and bought one. Guess it wasn't a bad idea after all. Thought I'd tell you guys about it.

Hey $32.00 though, and no mess, under 5 minutes, it made my day. I'm gonna use it on my snowblower to drain the gas, and change the oil on both it and the lawn mower.

Mercedes dealerships use the same method to drain the oil out of their cars. Would still want to pull the drain plug to inspect for metal fragments, though.

As far as I have seen, on the older Dogs, there is no drain plug, other then the plug that comes from the hose on the oil tank. Am I missing something here? You unclamp it, and pull the plug, drain the oil, and put the plug back in. Forgot to mention the part where you burn yourself.....At least I do anyway.

Here is a link about it. http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/how/26282-draining-oil-2004-chopper.html

This would be the reason I was happy about this LiqiVac......

That looks pretty cool, do you warm up the bike first when you use the LiquiVac just like a regular oil change?

Ya, they tell you to warm it up first. The plastic jug is real thick, so no worries. Plus it tells you how much you have removed. When I did the oil change, I pumped it up, opened the valve, and watched it remove 1 1/2 quarts in about 1 minute, then I shut off the valve, repumped it 20 times and opened the valve again. It was done. I couldn't believe how fast it was. I'm totally sold on it. Wish I had come up with the idea myself. I'd be rich.......

So did you happen to find any metal debris or did you not look? I am curious about the amount of old oil left in the tank if any. The 1st bit of air that gets in the vacs hose will cause it to lose suction. was the vac hose small enough to go into the factory drain hose to remove all of the old oil?

After draining my Mastiff with drain hose, I have been using a turkey baster with tube to suck up quite a bit of old oil out of the left rear portion the oil tank. This thing would eliminate that & the burnt arm.
