Fork Dust Cap Removal

Did a search and I did not find an answer but what tool do you find works the best (or setup) for removing the fork dust caps? The last time I rebuilt them I put anti-sieze on it (just a little) and they seem to not want to come off.

Soak them down with penatrating oil, use a rubber hammer and tap on them awhile. Strap wrench seems to work good to get them off.
Once you're done, make sure the threads are good and clean, and each time you wash your bike, unscrew them and blow the water out.

I use a rubber strap wrench.
Make sure your rubber o ring is good on the cap to prevent water from getting in.
Also some have a small relief cut in the back to drain the water out if any gets in.

When I rebuilt mine I cut a section of serpentine belt and put that inside my strap wrench for grip and to not mar. It came off easy (lucky I guess).

And then order a new set from The Kaptin.

I just used a 6 point socket and it never marked it. I wouldn't use a 12 point though

For the dust cap? Isn't that the part that threads on over the seals rather than the top part that takes a socket?

maybe for you, but not for me. forced retirement before you are ready is no fun.
