OK Rider Shakey
Yesterday morning I found a screw in my back tire. It was deep enough to leak and I wanted to do a ride so I went to Walmart bought a cheap plug kit and plugged it.
Our local temp got to 104 yesterday so mid-afternoon, the plug I had put in disappeared and I had a flat on the way back from Bartlesville (20 miles from anywhere on Hwy 75).
Here's my question, what if any road hazard warranty do we have on the avon tires? My bike has about 7000 miles on it and I had noticed that the rear was no longer a totally round tire, but was getting a flat strip in the middle from wear.
Already with a bad experience with the cheap plug, I am leaning towards a new tire rather than a plug/patch type repair. Anyone have a comment on this? (right/wrong, too paranoid?)
The other odd thing you probably will never think about is when the rear goes flat, the bike basically stops turning. But the true suprise was the kickstand was totally useless. The bike sat straight up on the flat. So if you ever get a rear flat, make sure you park on a level surface if you have a choice. I basically lucked out on that.
As usual, a passerby stopped within a minute of me pulling over (before my club made it to me) and went and brought me an air tank. I put another plug in it, aired it up and made it home. Plus, I was riding with my M/C club. I can't stress how important it is to have people you can count on with you. Temp was 104 with heat index of 116 and no shade or wind.
