Ever Lost Your Sissy Bar Backrest

I did! 200.00 bucks later since I couldn't find it I decided to make sure it didn't slip down off the bar again.

I drilled and tapped the chrome plate midway between top and bottom and inserted a small set screw. I marked were the set screw would come in contact with the sissy bar and took a file and cut a notch on each side of the bar. Lined it up and bolted the pad back to the bracket and set the set screws. Problem solved.

This is a common problem.....usually don't notice the problem until its gone :D. Another thing to do is put a piece of rubber under the plate and tighten. Thats what I did with mine. Great idea though and shouldn't ever come loose. You did good. :2thumbs:

I love this site for threads just like this one. I have never given mine a second thought. I will go do a bit of preventative maintanence and make sure this doesn't occur. Thanks fellas!!

Losing the Sissy Bar scares the crap out of me.
I try not to put weight on it (as a passanger), but sometime the force of the K-9 pushes me against it. I would hate to end up on the street!
Advice dully noted!

I stopped on the shoulder of the road to talk to my buddies on our trip last spring. Mine was sitting on the fender between the bar uprights ready to fall onto the road. I figured it was a good time to just stuff it inside my tourpack.
