Ever caught in a down pour?

I just wanta ride
I got nailed this past friday around lunch time. I have an 06' Ridge and it was so bad I couldn't see had leather coat and blue geans. My boots held about 1" of water in them. I did have cover for the face or I would have not been able to breath or stand the steel nails hitting my face. After drying off I went out to the garage to see a soaking wet bike. It took me 3 hrs just to get it to a good clean up. I rode the next day and it was hard to shift into third. I pulled over and found out the rain had washed off all the grease on the hemi joints. Went home and corrected that and all is good! Ridding in the rain is not my favorite but is better than not ridding at all. IF YOU ARE NOT GETTING WET AT SOME POINT THEN YOU ARE NOT ON THE DOG ENOUGH!

I get caught in the rain all the time but I am usually prepared for it 'cause I live in FL. However, I was coming home one night after bar hopping and as I turned into my neighborhood I rode through... what on first inspection seemed a small puddle then rapidly turned into 18" deep of a flooded road for about 100 yards. Apparently, a construction crew busted a water main earlier that evening. My K-9 looked like I had taken it muddin'!

Rain? What is that? Our freaking lake is so dried up and low my parasailing gear is getting eat up with the moths :bang::bang::bang:

scubaman and I must've been in the same storm on northbound 95 coming back from Myrtle beach bike week in 2009. Me and one of my posse were following our caravan of trucks and trailers (we camped at Lakeside) and a couple of miles into NC all hell broke loose. Rained like hell, temp dropped 15-20 degrees and couldn't see shit. Luckily, I was smart enough to have put my windshield on otherwise I don't know what would have happened. We should have stopped but the caravan was rolling and we wanted to keep up. Swear that God was steering the bike cause the only thing I saw was the taillight of the vehicle in front of me. Rode like this till it cleared up about 30 miles from the VA border. Whenever I hear that song "Jesus Take the wheel" I can relate.

I rode my 08 PITBULL all the way back from Ashville NC in the pouring rain. It was miserable and I was soaking wet. The only issuse I had was that my spike filter got wet so I had to stop to take the filter cover off so it would run. It was just getting choked out. It was sleeting, hailing and raining all to hell. I eneded up stopping at a auto zone and buying rain X and putting the shit on everything I owned. It did help to repel the water. 8 hours of that made for a long ass day.

Sure - I had to buy a can of air and blew out the connectors in the hand controls. When I turned on the key, the lights flashed, starter engaged and the horn was blewing. Since the high beam was on, I blew out the left hand control first and the bike fired up no problems. Before the occured, i rode in the rain for several hours.

Been dumped on while riding more times than I can count. SUCKS! But only had a handling problem once. Torrential downpour on interstate while headed to Lake of the Ozarks. Three inches of rain in an hour. Got so bad had to pull down clears and head straight into storm. The old lady was on back and we were fully loaded down for the trip. 300 rear started coming loose everytime a semi would pass. Drenched, finally had enough and pulled over and got a room. But other than that, never a problem. Ride in the rain (and sometimes even the snow) alot, not to mention wash my bike at least once a month. Never an electrical problem

Damn! Can't hardly believe all the Dogs that have no issues when wet. :job: Mine should have been called a "Big Cat" cause she hates the rain. The tach is all over the place or not working at all. After I parked it, the headlights and tail lights would flash off and on. The bike was not even running!!! I think some of that may have been water getting into the EHC. That shit ain't happein' no mo! Installed the wire plus recently. Down south, afternoon showers pop up without notice, then gone a few minutes later, so I'm sure to test it again soon.:whoop::cheers:

Thanks guys that are including answers to my question about electrical problems. I don't mind getting wet or having to clean the bike, it is pretty much inevitable in Florida, I was just worried about electrical problems. I may add som di-electric compund to the connectors in the hand grips, the speedo, and the god forsaken EHC. I just don't want any more electrical issues. Thanks again for sharing your comments on the subject of rain and electronics.

not enough time 4 riding
First time riding with other members from the forum (Fibersnake, Shredder, BigBlueDog, Luphole, and later Scubaman15) from Mt Airy MD to Annapolis. Rain and mist almost the entire time on the ride, but since there was a group of us sharing the misery it was sort of fun. None of us had any problems, even of the wet bricks in Annapolis. My Heim joints did pick up a load of dirt, etc so my shifting sucked on the ride home.

My worst expereince was riding from Front Royal to Sterling in pouring rain. Every piece of clothing was soaked and I had to take everything out of my wallet. During the ride home I crossed tracks with no handling issues

Do it all the time down here!!!:loony:

Yup! Florida weather is so UN predictable. Sun shine and down pours. Rode it home in a torrential downpour the day we got it. Passing tractor-trailers show no mercy.
You right brotha, if you dont like the weather down here wait ten minutes it will change!!!
I rode around a couple storms today!

Way too many time and other than getting wet as hell and sometime cold, never a real problem with the BD. At most the dancing lights until they good good and dry, though after doing a little better waterproofing, have not had that issue.

Seems like for many of the times that I have rode with other members, it would rain. Almost like an omen to plan a ride and then eventually share the rain with many old friends. The good part is that we all shared it and never did anyone seem to complain, jsut shared in the pain and the enjoyment of riding on two wheels with good friends. Hell even Shredder, who has the cleanest bie at all time, never let the rain stop him (just was drying it off at every stop).

Salute to all those that ride the rain and know that not all days or going to be sunshine and no wind and if you are going to put some heavy miles and see the great country of ours, rain is part of it.
