I have an 06 Ridgeback, Love it! But was cought in a heavy down pour two days ago. It was raining so hard, I couldnt see. Quickly changed two lanes of traffic and got under a hotel canopy, lucky!!!! Never had a problem in the rain with my Goldwing, but a chopper is a different animal. Would like to hear about control problems if you have any.:hi:

The worst I've ever been in I was as wet from head to toe as if I was in a swimming pool, no escape on a 2 mile bridge, had a bandanna on and was breathing water through it, couldn't see and I thought if I can't see they can't see me either keep moving, a guy in a bronco pulled in behind me put on his 4 ways and followed me to an exit he was a fellow biker I was in full leather ( not good rain gear) my boots had water in them, I have never been so wet & cold, bad day on the bike

Worst rain I ever got caught in was on the Blue Ridge Parkway, from Cherokee to Asheville. Riding a V-Rod, 200mm rear, but couldn't go but 20-25mph. I will tell you this...the tunnels were hell! Glasses would instantly fog when entering, and along with it being dark inside, you were completely blind. Most of those tunnels were 300-400 feet long, but a couple were like 700 feet and one was 1/4 mile. We got back to Asheville and were sitting at a stop light. I looked down and the water was deep enough in the street that it was rushing over the top of the toes of my boots. I took off my glasses to wipe them, and looked at the car next to me. A little kid was pointing at me...I couldn't help but laugh! Wearing full leathers, my jacket was now like 40 pounds! Every dollar bill inside my wallet was soaking wet...no way I could have gotten any wetter than I was that day. Like I said, we were really slowed by the rain, but at 20-25mph, our bikes handled fine. I'm sure if we pushed it a little, the handling would have exponentially gotten worse.

My worst handling moments on my Big Dog come from the crappy back roads and all the tar they use to patch the cracks in the road. Enter a curve with a little speed, hit some of those tar snakes...damn, hang on!...you feel like you're on ice!

Yup, got caught yesterday coming home from work. Two separate downpours. Could feel the rain go down the front of my leg and fill my boots.
Just a reminder. I know I mentioned this about a year ago but if you apply car wax to your riding glasses(inside and out)the water will bead and blow off giving you much better visibility.

Excuse me but fuck that crack sealer. It should be against the law. It's taken down too many riders and even been attributed to some deaths. Here in NY the DOT says there can be no more than 2 strips of this shit on any given section of highway at a time. These rules are totally ignored. Furthermore my county highway dept. tells me these contractors are paid by how much they put down!:bang:

RAIN? ONLY EVERY TIME I TAKE A LONG RIDE OR WHEN i RIDE WITH RAYWOOD.
I would rather ride in the rain than not ride. The dogs up here never have issues with water.
Get in yer 'bubble', then ride.

Got caught in the rain on Saturday. I wished I had a bandana to cover my face. Ended up using my left hand to cover my nose and mouth so I could breath. Only had on boots, jeans, t-shirt, leather vest, half shell, and sunglasses. I actually poured water out of my boots when I got home. Aside from not being able to see, I had no problems with the dog. Just took forever to clean.

Recently I got poured on pretty good heading to Panama City for Thunder Beach. Bike seemed to do fine, no control or skidding issues. I have a K&N condom that fits over the air filter to keep it from sucking water, so no coughing, hiccups, or choking. But, I was a little concerned about electrical issues. I made it into town wet assed and smiling. :)

BUt I'm curious, has anyone ever had electrical problems related to getting wet from riding in the rain? :loony:

I’ve never had any control issues in relation to the weather, but being cold and wet suck. My father rode from Ohio to Florida and back without a drop of rain. That weekend we road 50 miles when there was a 5% chance of rain, about as little as it gets in Ohio. Son of a bitch did it rain! We were 20 miles from home and had to get a hotel and spend the night, couldn’t see shit. The worst part is cleaning the bike.

Coming back from Myrtle 2009 , 250miles of the worst downpours I ever got caught in , we made it to Emporia VA just north of The NC line ...I laughed till I cried when my bud took off his leathers ..they were like 150lbs he looked like a drown Rat , Me I had rain gear "NO not A heafty sack , but the chopper had some issues flashing lights on the tach and one turn signal would stay on I thought if I can only make it home , did dried in all out ..it did fine but I was wishin for a windshield . People did take some hard looks ...you could almost hear them "DAM FOOLS DON"T KNOW TO GET OUT OF THE RAIN"

What rain? The only time it's gets hairy is just after a quick shower, the roads here are pretty oily, but in down pours just bring it on. I just throw on the leathers and my skeleton mask with nazi helmet and dark goggles and I'm good to go.
