Thanks Wyatt, now just trying to work through the weak links. Starter went out got that fixed, clutch problems crept in, takin care of that this morning with a Bandit Bruiser system. Hopefully be ridin hard by tonight so I can get her broke in before Sturgis.

Does the 600 cam comes with the 124"? I bet that fucker runs good.

As outdoorsman stated it has the 650. Don't know just how good it runs yet as I am still breaking her in. However, once broke in I will be putting her through a few paces with my new Dakota Digital and its 0 - 60 feature and 999 mile an hour speedo. Then I will just settle back into enjoying the cruise.

Have the usual "tick" 2. Was worse with TP rocker boxes but replaced with S&S and muuuuuch better. However, pushrod tubes sometimes make similar chatter if not installed properly. Just something to check

I have another sewing machine disguised as an engine. I am nervous that something is out of adjustment due to the extensive motor work done lately. Maybe it just takes getting used to, but it doesn't seem right. Some ticking I could handle, but damn….

I'm on my 2nd Big Dog with a 117" S&S, and let me tell you...neither of them make nearly as much racket in the upper end as did Harleys I've owned in the past.
The 103" CVO Screamin Eagle Roadking I owned last sounded like it was trying to tear itself apart with upper end clatter at just about every speed.
I had the dealer try to adjust several times and he finally said "well, that's just the way it is"......:bang:

went to the nearest big dog dealer today and the tech there said that tp had a bad batch of valve guides they used and were really soft so they would wear real fast and that is more than likely the noise i have so ordered up a new set of guides and gna install them this wknd hope that does the trick. if not i guess i just deal with it until it stops running haha

I would rather a tick than no tick and wonder when my valve train is gona explode from being to tight!!!!

lol good call im just gna order the parts and ride it and when i get around to changing them i will i didnt buy the bike to work on the damn thing i wanna ride it haha.the tech at the dealer said absolutely dont ride it you could drop a valve or something my response to that was well they make parts everyday so oh well

Adjusted mine several times to try to find the sweet spot. 3 turns from zero lash seems to be the best. I also run Amsoil 20/50, slight tic at times, but not bad atall.

Slight Tick at times also? It seems to me mostly when the motor is coasting ...when there is no load on the engine ..I don't hear it when applying throttle even slightly ?? Or when decelerating or even while going down hill down shifting etc. Running Amsoil if it becomes steady the push rods will get a adjustment ... Ray has MANY miles on these motors . Funny I don't really hear it at idle ...

Thats when I hear it too..... Coasting, or for me, sitting at a light. I put Lucas oil additive in both the oil and trans.... Bike is a lot quieter now. Seems to run cooler too.

Still hate the little noises they make, but I've sat next to a Harley that ticked like Janet Reno........ Made me feel a lot better about my engine tick.

maybe im just being paranoid this is my first twin cylinder time bomb so maybe i just gotta adapt to the noises haha. i have the heads off already so im just gna mic the valves and guides and see if that my be my problem if not im just gna put it together and deal with it

If you have a tick just get a pin and a lighter, Heat the pin up and stick it in the Tick's body and wait for the head to coome out then brush it off. Problem solved

:down:and the verdict is junk valve guides took the heads off and tore them appart and the front cyl exh valve has about 1/16 of slop in it and the valve guide is egg shaped. kinda glad i decided to tear it down instead of just ignoring it haha. coulda been way more expensive :bang:

Well as you said it could have been worse. But now ya got a good excuse to mill your jugs, good cam and more torque. Fun ain't for free

been leanin toward doing that im having the heads ported/polished and maybe cams but not sure yet
