Engine rebuild

Ok, so as most of you are aware, i've had new pistons, barrels, crank, main bearings and whatever else amounted to £3700 of my hard earned English Pounds. I have been told 500 miles and oil and filter change, then another 500 miles and oil and filter change. Is this figure set in stone? Your thoughts please.

I would agree with the first 500, but then I would go to 2000 or a year, I only put about 2-2500 miles on the Dog in a year

For sure do the first 500. Look at the oil closely and cut the filter open to see if there is metal present. Good luck!

If the machine work, and assembly work has been done properly, I would say 200 miles with regular non-synthetic 20-50 oil. Then drop the oil and filter, switch to 20-50 synthetic oil, and let it rip.
This is what I recommend for my engine builds to my customers, and have NEVER had a problem.

That's exactly what I did when Andrew came to Spain to do my K9. Very same recommendation. :old2:
