Hey does anyone know how I can Test my ECH on my 05 BigDog Chopper I have lost power to everything and there is no fuse that I can find even though the schematic shows there is one. So my next step is to test and see if the brain is working before I retrofit new wiring system. Please so if anyone has any suggestion I would be appreciative for ANY HELP. Thanks!!!!!

Start with the simple stuff make sure all your electrical connections are tight, clean and no bare wires are showing at the battery and starter and you might want to check that your Curcit Breaker isnt tripped. By the way, welcome to the forum from Washington State...

:cheers:Welcome from Louisiana. I am sure someone will be along shortly to tell you where the Circuit Breaker is and might even have a picture.:D

Insert title here...
First, at the risk of sounding disagreeable, the 40A circuit breaker shown on the wiring diagram has only one function... to protect the battery from a runaway VR. The only way it would have an affect on the EHC is if it was tripped causing your battery to discharge or if the VR sent a large spike to the EHC before the breaker could trip. Is battery voltage up to snuff?

Second, without an EHC tester (but you have to be able to use a multimeter), you can check the inputs and outputs to the EHC. If you have inputs and are missing outputs the EHC is bad.

I'd start by disconnecting the power harness from the EHC and CAREFULLY check for 12VDC (+) at the A-3 (large pin near the center of the connector) and for ground (-) at A-4 (the large pin sitting by itself at the opposite end of the connector). That'll tell you where your EHC is getting power and a ground from the battery.

If that's good, reconnect the harness to the EHC and try jumping across the ignition switch to see if things will power up.

There's a start for ya! :D

I did as you said and checked all my connections and checked the input for proper voltage and was good but, when I was checking output I found a broken pin, so my next question is can I find anouther EHC out on the market or do I just need to buy and install a PDA kit .

Again I appreciate all your advise, it has saved me a lot of time. Thanks!!!

there are some new and some used EHCs on ebay but in my opinion, you would be money and headaches ahead to go ahead and shitcan it. BUT MAKE SURE IT IS BAD BEFORE YOU BLAME IT. go all other routes before you declare it dead. that is unless you have $$$$ to burn.

If you have a broken pin I would just go WirePlus or the new BDM replacement. I have the WirePlus don't much about the BDM replacement.
