Having problems with my dog not charging, charged battery and took it to get checked and was told battery was good. Put it back in the bike and ran some of the tests suggested on other threads. Battery drops in voltage each time I turn it on and especially when I hit the throttle. Stator is at about 25 amps at idle and between 45 and 50 at 3000 rpms. So I have come to the conclusion that my vr is bad, please chime in if you think I am wrong or have any other suggestions. I would also like to know what this part in the picture is, I thought it was a circuit breaker but my bike is a 2009. Members giving input on other threads stated there is no cb on 08 and newer dogs.

That's the circuit breaker and reset button should be on side of it. Test the battery with your
Meter before you start the bike should be around 12.8, keep meter on posts during start up and you will see a drop. With meter still on posts rev motor and you should see voltage climb to 13-14 volts showing your battery is receiving a charge. If not then regulator is bad. make sure connections at battery are tight. Also the stator should be puttin out at least
70 volts. There is a better explanation in the "how to" section.

also while your motor is runnin check the voltage at the circuit braker. Nothin is to say it can't go bad either.
Voltage on the battery does not climb at throttle, it actually drops. I saw on some of the other threads that the voltage on the stator should be about 20 at idle and about 50 at about 3000 rpms. Is that wrong cause that's about where mine is. Voltage at the circuit breaker is the same as the battery at the second post, but it has no current at the first post where the wire from the vr is connected. I would like to replace the circuit breaker with an in-line fuse since I read that those are garbage anyway. Its also a lot easier to know something is wrong when you see a blown fuse.

I checked my manual in the trouble shooting flow charts and it actually says stator output should be 16-20 volts per 1000 RPMs. That's from 2008 manual. Sounds like yours is good. I recently replaced my regulator with a cycle electric brand, same issue not showing an increase in volts at battery when increasing rpms.
