Anyone know how much the 300mm rear wheel and tire weigh?? there has to be a pretty big penalty for this in torque and HP moving the big son-of-a-bitch.
The S&S Shop Manual shows the following for their 124"
Max HP/Torque: 134.1/148.3 S&S Tuned Runner Induction
129.2/137.0 S&S "G" Carb with IST Ignition
That said, the 124" runs the 640 cam w/ 11:5:1 compression.
The S&S 117" from the factory uses the 600 cam 10:5:1 compression. Our stock motors run 9:6:1 compression and I bet a 585 cam to meet EPA requirements.
So to get HP/Torque closer to factory and somewhat near the 124" we spend $$
- Up the compression to 10:5:1
- Tighten the squish
- 600 CAM or 640 (stock springs look like a fit) or woods cam
- Remove the intake restrictions - IE get a better/bigger air filter with a less
restrictive cover
- New ignition system
- Performance Exhaust -- 2-into-1 pipes for maximum power
$$$$$ and your there ... question is, is it really worth it? and what does it do to the life of the motor, the transmission, drive train ..
I did this to my last scoot, it ate starters, batteries, tires, transmissions (baker 6 speeds, 1 every 5,000 miles), primary chains .. yup it sure was fun and I got to spend alot of quality time with the folks at the shop tossing money at em.
