Received a reply from Josh (Doherty Machine). I was asking for '07 K9:

"Part Number 1258 will be for your bike, you will be able to use you existing cover as well."

Just sharing the wealth...

Here I am!!! I haven't dropped off the planet...I need more computer action time and less, shopping, cooking, cleaning...either that or I suck at time management cause I never have time to get on the forum much lately...gonna do better with the new year
Yes the Doherty power pak part number is 1258 and yes I can get them cheaper than anybody else will sell them for (except Rick got a killer deal). But I have learned from doing alot of Christmas shopping on ebay this year that if you get it and it sucks, is missing parts, etc.etc...your kinda screwed..by the time you figure in the hassle, disappointment and complete frustration with getting a jacked up part on ebay..it's better to get stuff from me cause I'll take it back or get the missing stuff or whatever it takes....
The Doherty's retail for 219.95, your cost 197.95 and hell lets not bother with the cents and call it 195.00 with of course your free shipping and whatever freebie i can find to throw in the box.

Have to agree with GAs & Vickie it's only a killer deal if you actually get the part. Ordered mine off e-bay and still waiting for it to arrive. Have sent e-mail to the seller and have not recvd a reply yet. :bang: Pay the couple bucks more and get your parts through Vickie it's worth it in the long run!

I was wondering if going with the Doherty Power Pack and S&S Desparado will cause me to again re-jet the stock G-carb. I am currently running a 78/31 combo on the jets with the Big Radius pipes and stock breather setup. Right now I have no decel pops pulls strong with no flat spots. I bought the K&N filter the other day and have not put it on yet but intend to day,

It's bound to breath better than the stock setup.

No Ron I think your jetting should be close. The idea behind the power pacc is that it puts the air cleaner out further so it can grap more air. Also it incorporates a nice venturi in the billet backing plate that works well with the S&S cover the standard or the diablo. I did not have to rejet from my original settings when I did the install.

Thanks Al, I appreciate the feedback on this. That is a very nice looking setup you have there:2thumbs:

Power PACC Install

OK, can't do it myself (Right NOW, dammit) - I'm in Alaska, bike is in GA.

The wrench at the dealer has never seen a Power PACC - he's not trying to talk me out of it, but he's trying to talk me out of it. He's been good at what he does so far, but I don't want to talk him into doing something that he's not comfortable with.

Perused ads for Daytona, got in touch with Carl's Speed Shop, pondering having it installed while at the big show. (Flying to Augusta, riding from there, via Helen, GA).

Carl's called me, had never done a Power PACC. Tried to talk me into a .580 cam... Whatever, but want to get my 2500 before thinking cam.

??
Any recommendations for a shop in Daytona area that has some experience with these things?

Geez, it shouldn't be this hard! Maybe I should sit down and shut up until the beastie comes home, and I'll just do it my damself...

You know guys the S&S backing plate and air cleaner are well proven by many means of testing over the last 40 years and is the best system out there.
To go to the Power Pac the only thing you will gain is some bling as the backing plate looks better.
Many years ago Smith figured out that having that ring around the entrance to the carb and the inside spike on the inside of the cover provided a ram effect and produced more power.
The Power Pac is just a replica of the S&S, it just looks better but you don't need it unless you really want it.
This has been mentioned in many magazines and even this months issue of American Iron.

Just my :zz2cents:

Ray, Thanks for the feedback.

The venturi "on the inside of the air cleaner" is what I'm keying in on... Kind of like a K Hypercharger, but with better protected air intake.

AIM article: Donny rates this thing best of breed. The Power PACC was measurably more effective on a variety of intake systems, some HD, some Evol. In each example, the numbers increased with minimal other changes; some didn't even re-jet. There are also more background articles posted on the Doherty web site.

Based on all the sources, the Power PACC sounds like pure and simple "bolt on horsepower" - would sure like to hear more from Dogs that actually running one of these things...

Ok, again not dogging out the Power Pac but they are a paid sponsor of AIM and of course they are going to say good things about them but the stock S&S system is just as good but not as good looking!!!! :D

Doherty Air Filter and mist system

Vicky, how do I purchases an air filter and mist system from you? I got a bit of slobbering coming out of my K&N air cleaner and want to get rid of it for good, plus really get some breathing from a great air filtration system.

Thanks

I understand your point Slow Vince in the difference but just as you state above it's being compared to a HD unit or Screamin Eagle. What would be the difference if the Power Pac was compared to the S&S cover on the same motor as they are alike.

Thats all I was saying unless I'm missing something here.

Just wondering. :D

Well, in 5 more daze, I'll be able to speak on the Power PACC from personal experience... But Navy Son said that at least it did not degrage anything or cause any new bad habits. The Dragon is still smooth and strong, and makes his gurlfren grin!

The "complete" kit was not perfect in every way, ended up also needing a different choke (enrichener), and the wrench had to do some minor "engineering" on the late model 117 breather line. But it's all together, for better or worse.

Hope to C'ya in Daytona?

What was wrong with the enricher knob? put it on, spin in the set screw... pull up and twist if using the enricher... DONE EASY SON!!

Breather lines? Run that rear SHIT to the floor!!! Front goes into the intake so no worries there!
