Dog is smoking now

After 6 months of chasing down why my scoot dies while riding, I changed out the cam sensor. Put on bout 150 miles over 3 days and bike hasn't died again. And it's been 107 in OKC. The newest issue is now I am getting a small amount of black smoke from both pipes. I see this when i rev the engine. Notice more than normal black residue inside the pipes. When I put the cam sensor in I put the new one in as close as possible in the same position. Bike runs perfect. No backfiring, sneezing or anything.

Leave it alone or should I adjust the timing alittle. If so which way should I turn the sensor to slightly adjust timing. Thanks again folks. Y'all rock.

What are your plugs telling you to do?

What color are they?

You burning any oil?

It could be that the new sensor is sensing the cam slightly different enough to have changed the timing but I don't see how it could cause more black smoke. I assume nothing else has changed.

Check spark plug coloration.
Check ignition tming.
Clean air filter.

Insert title here...
If the bike was running clean before you changed the cam sensor it sounds like your timing may be slightly retarded now. If so, check out the last page here...

Of course it'll be the light on your ignition module you'll be looking for and make sure you remove the spark plug wires!

If all is well, you may want to tweak the carb a little unless it's oil smoke you're seeing. Then it's a whole different world of possibilities...

It could just be your fuel air screw adjustment. I would pull the screw all the way out and inspect the end tapered part of it. If it has any slight amount of wear on it, a little grove..Replace it with a new one. They are less than $9 retail. Thread the new or old screw in all the way and very gently bottom it. now turn it back 1 1/2 turns. this is your starting point. Start bike and let it warm up to temp. Now turn the fuel screw counter clockwise till the motor starts to stumble. Turn the screw back clock wise and again till the motor stumbles. Again turn the screw back counter clockwise about half way in between the two points of which it was stumbling.
