Eric the numbers you see when you turn it on are not the Rev Hits. It is the pulse count and normal during the start-up. The Rev Hits as well as the other information comes from the EHC and is downloaded from same by dealer using a computer and the BD software. Anytime you have it in for warranty work, they normal will do a download and send a copy to BD. Always ask for a copy, and best to mention it up front and have them write it down on the work order.
Especially important during the break-in period. Also when they do do the download and provide you a copy, have the dealer go over it with you and explain the numbers.
On the OP issues, regardless if the dealer feels it is okay or not, if the OP light is coming on during normal riding with the idel set right (1000 RPM). Something is not correct and should be fixed, even if it is as simple as a sender issues. Especially with it being under warranty and new. Recommend not to accept otherwise from a dealer. They put the light on there for a reason and if it is not right, how will the rider know when it is and truly indicating a problem.
I and many others have OP gages on ours, and from my own experience, with a decent gage. I see no less then 10 PSi at idel when hot, never 0 unless engine is not running. Typically 30-35 PSI at speed, maybe a little more depending on temp.
These engines do not require a great amount of pressure, however they do require some. If a gage is reading 0 while running, something is wrong, bad gage, bad pump, bad regulating spring, debri in screen, stuck check ball, something.
Would not accept the off cuff of it is okay. Maybe now, but could be leading to a problem down the road.
Good luck and keep us advised of how it all works out and safe and fun riding.
