Does your Dog burn oil?

I serviced my Mastiff myself about 1500 miles ago. I noticed yesterday that I was 3/4 qt low on oil. Is this a common problem with Big Dogs? BTW, there were no drips on the ground; it's definitely burning oil.

This is not a common problem. Did you break in the scoot as suggested in the owners manual?

U sure the level change isn't due to the oil change. Check level when cold, run it check it again when cold.

What year bike? Could easily be oil getting past the check-ball in the pump and settling in the sump. Does the oil level come up after riding and the bike is warm? Oil level when cold don't mean much.

Russ your scoot is like new ..... it doesn't smoke or leak oil ....top it off and run it another 1000 miles ...then see if its doin the same thing.

Just my 2¢

Thanks for all the feedback. I broke in my bike properly but it only has about 5K miles on it. I've never owned a bike with and S&S engine but I can't see how it would be any different than other Evo styles. I'll take Billy's advice and see how it does over time.

The point I was trying to make was he may have filled the bag up at the oil change, then after the engine ran the filter would have filled etc resulting in a drop in the level. Checking it when cold, running (to see if it truely is burning) and checking it again when cold will eliminate any level change due to expansion caused by temparature.

Just for reference I used about a quart during my 7000 mile summer trip last year. I'm not burning oil to my knowledge and this was a 7 week trip around the country at high speed so just posting this as a reference. I use Amsoil.

With Mobil 1 20W-50 I use about 10 oz. in 2500 miles. With Amsoil 20W-50 I do not use any oil in 2500 miles.
