Russ your scoot is like new ..... it doesn't smoke or leak oil ....top it off and run it another 1000 miles ...then see if its doin the same thing.I serviced my Mastiff myself about 1500 miles ago. I noticed yesterday that I was 3/4 qt low on oil. Is this a common problem with Big Dogs? BTW, there were no drips on the ground; it's definitely burning oil.
The point I was trying to make was he may have filled the bag up at the oil change, then after the engine ran the filter would have filled etc resulting in a drop in the level. Checking it when cold, running (to see if it truely is burning) and checking it again when cold will eliminate any level change due to expansion caused by temparature. What year bike? Could easily be oil getting past the check-ball in the pump and settling in the sump. Does the oil level come up after riding and the bike is warm? Oil level when cold don't mean much.
