All of our helmets are navy owned and issued. We also have a set of 97 in our shop. Great helmet.

Looking forward to retirement
been certified since 1985 in Pipe & pressure vessel certification which is a bitch. but i'm curious. When arc welding the last thing you want to do is dunk hot steel in water, it looses tensile streingth, also in cold water there is a chance of crystalizing the weld. how does that work underwater???

Liferider. Short answer to your question is underwater welding is not arc welding. It uses self consuming method. You push the rod into the work. Also there is a proprietary metallurgy in the rod. Very high nickel content which helps keep the weld from becoming brittle.
