Liferider. Short answer to your question is underwater welding is not arc welding. It uses self consuming method. You push the rod into the work. Also there is a proprietary metallurgy in the rod. Very high nickel content which helps keep the weld from becoming brittle.

We use broco rods. And we have several different methods for cutting including a method of kerrie cable which is a self consuming cable filled with oxygen

That's pretty cool Pro.....I always wanted to dive the Orisknay. I've done some shipwreck diving off the keys.
