So no other pics then?? And again does my bike 03 chopper have the same placement for the breaker?? I'm wondering if bike even came with one. It had the factory canvas loom all the way from the VR to the battery....

Sorry, don't have my -03 here hence no pictures, but if you just follow the wire from VR to battery, the fuse or breaker should be there. Usually rather close to the battery. On newer bikes it is under the left side cover, on -03 it might also be under the seat, don't remember.
If there is no fuse, it really doesn't matter where you install it. Find a nice place close to the battery.

As far as I understand in reality the breaker or fuse only protects VR from god knows what in the battery. Also I feel I start to like Bill for his always sunny and positive attitude should I start to worry about myself!

So, put everything in and fired her up..... Crank no start. I noticed 2 things.... First is that the negative cables got significantly warm, and second is that the box (the one with the heart and sword on it with the light, I think it's the EHC) didn't light up. SOOO, what are you guys thinking I fried, what should be my next step?

You sure you have the positive VR hooked up to the right terminal? And Ground? Didn't get them mixed up? Wires could be hot just from cranking a lot though.

Ignition module light will only light up when you hit run. Without bike starting turn key on and see if it lights up when you press run, don't need to crank. Its possible you roasted your ignition module the box with the sword.

Do you have an EHC or Wire plus? What year is this 03 or 04?

yes i def have the vr hooked up correctly, i ran a 40A fuse in line on the positive because the bike didnt have a circuit breaker that i could find (the old power wire for the VR went directly to the positive terminal). Im not sure if i have a wire plus, as far as i know, the bike is completely stock. Its an 03 with the rolling thunder frame. I didnt see that light come on at all.

You are one lucky wanker to have Eric walk you through this troubleshooting!

My VR went out in Nov 07. It didn't take anything else out. The battery probably survived because of the breaker (stock unit). I also replaced the breaker along with the VR, because it likely took a beating. Just get a HD breaker. I installed mine next to the ignition module. Used a homemade mount made from insulated wire and crimped connectors. Has worked for 9 years.

Is that a extra cover on VR? I may be over cautious, but since heating can be a problem with VR I would not put extra cover on it.

It's a stock unit from Compufire, mounted up front for direct air cooling. If you don't like it, then buy the black unit. Just be advised that black absorbs and retains more heat.

Soo yeah looks like the ehc.... Seeing as how it says "ehc" on it.
Hey man...trying to help here.

The EHC is the EHC , yes. But you were talking about the silver box with the sword on it. That is the ignition box. EHC and ignition box are two separate items. Both could be blown you had 17v could have fried the entire system. I just went through it. EHC was toasted, tach, headlight, and speed sensor. The only electrical item that wasn't fried was my ignition.

It's possible your EHC is fried your gonna have to do more diagnostics. I don't know much about the 03 is there lights on that box that says EHC.

Wasn't trying a to be sarcastic, I guess that came out wrong. There is a little black box that says EHC on it. I posted a pic above but for some reason it didn't show up full screen. If you click on it, you can see what I'm working with. I'm guessing it's because I uploaded it from my phone. There are not any lights on the box labeled EHC. The only light I have is on the silver box (ignition module) which like I said, is not lighting up. I guess my next question is how exactly should I start to diagnose this. I am a mechanic, just don't know a whole lot about motorcycle mechanics. I have all the tools at my disposal just don't know where to begin or exactly how to go about it.

No worries...unhook your ignition box (silver) at the jst connector. Toss a meter on the red and black wires coming from your EHC see if you get +12v going to your ignition box. Should be hot when bike is in RUN on your handlebar switch.

If you don't have juice going in its probably your EHC. Your lights working?

My scoot has a Module (with red and amber LEDs) on top of the battery, held in place with the strap that holds the battery in place.

Go to your Owner's Manual and look it up in the "Major Components 2.6" area. It says:

ELECTRONIC START MODULE

DIAGNOSTIC INSTRUCTIONS:
A red LED indicates an overloaded or shorted circuit within the starting system
An amber LED indicates an overloaded or shorted circuit within the ignition system

There is also a troubleshooting guide in the Owner's Manual. You need to go through their guide to gain more specific information before we can help you much more.

Sorry for the delay, injured myself at work (bounced my head off the concrete and woke up a few hours later in the ER). Anyways, 2 connectors going to my ignition module, both have a red and black wire. Checked both, had 12V on one connector, but not the other. Is there a way to determine which connector I should be checking? Also, I noticed the little black rectangle box ( I think it's called a start module or something) with 2 leds on it, when I turn the key on, the yellow led lights up. Idk if that means anything because I never really noticed it before, but I figured I'd give you as much info as I can get. This thing is frustrating the hell out of me. We've had perfectly dry and hot weather nonstop for the past month and a half and I haven't been able to get out.
