I have a D&M spike Intake on the bike. While its torn down I would like to replace this old K&N I will try to clean it but its VERY old.

Only part number I have found was 7807-0018. I cant seem to find one to buy. Anyone have a lead on one or even a China copy?

If money isn't a problem, the S&S dual runner is one of the better performing induction systems. For my tastes and $ I use the S&S "slasher" air cleaner. It's the traditional tear drop cover, with slotted openings around 3/4 of the circumference.

Well for now how about just a filter to replace the one I have. Can swap that back after it its up and running.
Bigdogpartskingpin.com has a replacement filter for their spike. Not sure if it will fit your D&M. Check the specs against yours. If it doesn't fit, K&N makes a wide variety of conical filters.

I have not found that K&N size/ part number for sale anywhere. will check out Partsking but from what I have seen these will not work. I did find a old school Velocity stack no filter, ha. Not to run it a lot but maybe to try between that and my spike and see if i can tell the difference...

I would just try to clean the filter the best you can and upgrade the air cleaner whenever you can. It's true those spike ac's don't flow very well. If want to get the most out of your upgrades, you gotta let the engine breathe. The dual runner is great, but unfortunately they don't make them for the evos anymore. The teardrop is decent. You can boost the flow with the wide element kit. The forcewinder is pretty good too.

I will plan to clean it. But would like to replace as its 15 years old at least too. I cant even find a D&M phone number or web page. It always takes me to American Motorcycle parts.

This is the problem with spikes. When the air travels around the 90 deg fitting it tends to traver against the wall of the big radii and not follow short side or tight radii. This causes air to enter the carb very unevenly at higher velocities. There will be more posative airflow on one side and even a vacuum on the other. The jets and bleeds are in the center which is why mounting the spike vertically provides an equal but uneven air flow to each cylinder. They look great and perform badly.

Agreed, same with many of the styles that make a 90 turn. Be better off with stock.
