Stock S&S teardrop is better than the spike. I couldn’t wait to get that off my bike. I literally gave it away to another guy on this forum for free.Open to ideas. I have been told that. Curtis told me probably giving up 10hp.
I am talking to one guy about his filtered velocity stack. what are the good performers?
Bigdogpartskingpin.com has a replacement filter for their spike. Not sure if it will fit your D&M. Check the specs against yours. If it doesn't fit, K&N makes a wide variety of conical filters.Well for now how about just a filter to replace the one I have. Can swap that back after it its up and running.

I would just try to clean the filter the best you can and upgrade the air cleaner whenever you can. It's true those spike ac's don't flow very well. If want to get the most out of your upgrades, you gotta let the engine breathe. The dual runner is great, but unfortunately they don't make them for the evos anymore. The teardrop is decent. You can boost the flow with the wide element kit. The forcewinder is pretty good too. This is the ONLY place I can find it show up and its back ordered....

Agreed, same with many of the styles that make a 90 turn. Be better off with stock. This is the problem with spikes. When the air travels around the 90 deg fitting it tends to traver against the wall of the big radii and not follow short side or tight radii. This causes air to enter the carb very unevenly at higher velocities. There will be more posative airflow on one side and even a vacuum on the other. The jets and bleeds are in the center which is why mounting the spike vertically provides an equal but uneven air flow to each cylinder. They look great and perform badly.
Good lolK&N discontinued the filter for the D&M spike some time ago and there does not seem to be a direct alternative replacement.
D&M went out of business roughly 6 or 7 years ago.
