loose nut

If the adjustment thread doesn't work for you then your clutch nut is probably loose ... happened to me twice ... I got a noise from the back too ... I think it's in the disk brake somewhere ... hope you solve your clutch slip :D

My clutch cable had to be replaced after three times the clutch lever went limp. I attempted to adjust the nut on the cable but came to find out that the mechanic replaced my clutch cable stating that the cable went bad. I have an 06' K-9 with 9,000 miles on it. Suggestion, get it checked out before your cable snaps while riding...take it from me it is not pleasant.

This has happend to several bikes including my 08. There are posts on it and even if its not the problem it can eliminate a potential problem in the future:hi:

i think what they might be saying josh is what i have also experienced twice too...on the left handside you need to take the primary cover off and theres a bolt that holds the clutch basket together and on the motor and usually it is that nut that backs off and gets loose.....

Have plenty of rags ready! Oh, and drain the primary oil first!:D I was doin some pre Sturgis inspections and found my clutch basket nut loose. It seems to be quite common.
