CLUTCH PROBLEM SOLVED

I have an 07 Mastiff with 17,000 miles. The bike creaped in first gear with the clutch not engaged, at highway speed if I rolled the throttle on, the clutch slipped really bad. When I would shift it would bang hard and wasn't smooth, also finding neutral was impossible if you were stopped.

The issue wasn't the clutch, it was the clutch cable at the ball and ramp under the pulley cover. It somehow jumped and was not aligned properly making it impossible to adjust the clutch. Now all the previous issues are gone, the bike works great.

I hope this helps someone.

I just started having this issue...i havent tried to adjust the clutch as of yet, but lerching in first gear at a red light, shifting is VERY tight at times and finding neutral is sometimes almost impossible. What exactly did you do to remedy this? Sounds like I should at least look at this issue BEFORE i attempt to adjust the clutch

No, I didn't take photos sorry. First take loosen clutch cable, remove pipes, remove pully cover, on the back side of cover is the ball and ramp, I believe there are five bolts to remove small cover and then you are there

I'm starting to have this problem as well. Was thinking the clutch was slipping. I'll have to check this first. Just had that side all apart to change the output transmission seal and have no idea what Aspen is talking about. I'll do my best to post before and after pics.

I dont thinik I have that much of a slipping problem (yet LoL) but it does hammer like a m@therf&cker when I shift and neutral is VERY difficult to get most times. Progressive pics like a "how to" would be helpful to me and others im sure. Thanks for any input.

Thanks for posting this fix. Just for info about a month ago my friends dad had similar problem and what we found was his clutch basket nut had loosened up and was backing off.

One thing, if you decide to remove the ball and ramp make sure you have a good pair of snap ring pliers or small needle nose pliers. the C clip will snap. it cracked my cheap ass roadmax cover assembly. you may not need to remove yours but while i was changing my cable decided to inspect the bearings and housing and grease the ramp.

Is yours an LSD Paul? Right side drive dogs don't have any c clips,or snap rings in the ball, and ramp assembly.
