Clutch hub nut

Thanks for the advise Carlos.ut I found out what I was doing wrong. I did not have the pusH rod backed out far enough. I just started loosing it and then it got real loose. Then I took it in till it tightened up and backed off .25 turn and adjusted the cable and guess what it worked. Thanks, everbody. T.
Alot of times when the clutch hub nut is loose many of us think its just a clutch adjustment so we adjust the clutch after screwing the push rod in more. When correcting the problem and after torquing down the clutch hub not it may be difficult to install the throwout bearing assembly because the rod is screwed in too far. You have to unscrew the push rod, install the throw out bearing assembly and then make the proper adjustments with the rod and clutch cable. The end of the rod meets at the throw out bearing. When you screw in the rod, it gets tight when it makes contact with the throw out bearing assembly. At that point you back off 1/4 turn and tighten, and make the other adjustment with the clutch cable. Sounds to me like you did it right. Once again just my .02 only because I've been there before. Very helpful topic for a common problem with these dogs.

loose nut

Recently, my trans got trashed due to the clutch hub nut coming loose. Of course, the extended warranty provider, XtremeGard is denying coverage on this problem. has anyone else run into this? Not sure how to proceed......

Which problem? XtremeGard or the clutch? :D

Lots of threads on here about the clutch. Welcome to the site.

Just had this happen too... Bike only has 1600 miles... Any recommendations for a shop to take it to in the Houston area to be fixed?

I wish I had more money.
It's an easy fix Matt. Do it yourself. Real easy. Do an intro and I bet dollars to doughnuts that someone will be more than willing to walk you through it.

Check out Millar Machine, a forum sponsor and Big Dog mechanic in the Houston area, his info can be found under the vendors tab.

I believe my clutch hub nut (05 chopper) came loose/off. While riding in 3rd gear it went into neutral with some noise from the primary with loose clutch lever. Turned the bike right off, tried to shift into gear when stopped and no way would go into gear. Recently had my Indy install Bandit clutch w/new carrier. Will soon find out what happened.
