1/4 turn off is correct. Ck your shift linkage. The hiem joints can get dry n stick. Check the bolt on the transmission shift arm too. If its loose, shifting will be a bitch.

So, I adjusted the push rod like you said and got the cable to where there was about 1/8” free play and it felt great. Now, once I start it and try to put it into gear, I can’t get it into first…I can pull up and get it into second, but it wouldn’t find first gear. I must have done something wrong. Can you help on that? Was I supposed to tighten it 1/8-1/4 more, or loosen? I backed it off about 1/4 turn.

Clutch rod nut. I’ll send you one once I get back to the house. It was on the right side. I unscrewed that cap and there was a 9/16” nut with an Allen screw.

I adjusted the linkage and now it seems to work really well. I’ll take it for a spin tomorrow around my neighborhood and see how she acts. Thanks for all of the input!!!

As for the heims, make sure they are in the same plane straight up and down. If not, they can bind and make life a little difficult.
