My clutch basket is open but my hd primary cover is torqued in inch pounds so not very tight if that's your question.

You can remove it with the pipes on. I still do when making an adjustment. You just need to grasp it with both hands and twist. Once you have it off apply a light coat of anti-seize on the threads...

should be able to get it off without removing the pipes. what i use is a wooden mallet with the handle resting in the indents of the cover firmly and then tap the top of the mallet with a dead blow hammer so as to rotate it counter-clockwise. sounds violent but it is really not harmful to the chrome this way. reverse to put it back on. :2thumbs:

good to hear. as far as hands being too weak, i have heard of the cover vibrating loose and coming off, so they need to be fairly snug.

Go to Walmart and by a door stop ground the screw part off and they fit right in the groves. All u need then is a hammer.

lol, gear stripped or something, that way I can open by hand. SSR been on non opt. last 2 years, never drive it. 2005 with 16000 miles. Also put clutch cover back on with a few light taps with a old hammer handle and mallet, same way it came off.Had carpul tunnel surgury on both wrist 25years ago, thats why I have weak hands

Thanks again, Paul
