Today I removed the bar and the back pegs to see if they would clean up. My scooter had been left in the weather by the previous owner. I really thought I would have to replace the pegs and rechrome the piece that holds the pegs on. I took a little mother's mag poilish and super fine steel wool to the chrome. It did pretty good getting the funk off it and micro fibered it afterwards. Then I put the whole thing in my vice in the garage with the soft jaws in the vice to hold it tight and still. I took the Mother's mag polish with an new acid brush and kinda pained the polish on thick on the metal surfaces on the pegs. Then I took an old rag I used to apply waxes and cut it in long, thin strips to get that shoe shine polishing motion going. I scubbed them down a couple times and wiped them off with a micro fiber rag in the same way. The whole thing turned out much better than I ever thought it could have before I started. Take a look see.
For the record I do this kinda stuff along with reading my Bible to calm me down! The peace and quite thing! I have waxed the paint off a pick up I used to have too! Reading my seventh Bible through now too!
