Cleaned up the old pegs

Today I removed the bar and the back pegs to see if they would clean up. My scooter had been left in the weather by the previous owner. I really thought I would have to replace the pegs and rechrome the piece that holds the pegs on. I took a little mother's mag poilish and super fine steel wool to the chrome. It did pretty good getting the funk off it and micro fibered it afterwards. Then I put the whole thing in my vice in the garage with the soft jaws in the vice to hold it tight and still. I took the Mother's mag polish with an new acid brush and kinda pained the polish on thick on the metal surfaces on the pegs. Then I took an old rag I used to apply waxes and cut it in long, thin strips to get that shoe shine polishing motion going. I scubbed them down a couple times and wiped them off with a micro fiber rag in the same way. The whole thing turned out much better than I ever thought it could have before I started. Take a look see.
For the record I do this kinda stuff along with reading my Bible to calm me down! The peace and quite thing! I have waxed the paint off a pick up I used to have too! Reading my seventh Bible through now too!

Excellent Job and reminds me that I need to get busy on mine soon and get it all polished up during the slow season of riding.

Oh, I did take the mother's polish and rubbed it in with e super fine steel wool on the really funky spots on the chrome. I figured I was going to have to have it rechromed anyway so if it messed it up at least it would be funky free :) . Another thing I ran across in this process. I had been looking for Naval jelly and found some at Lowes. THE INSTRUCTIONS SAY "DO NOT APPLY TO CHROME!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I didn't but for anyone one of you folks that might be looking for different stuff to clean your Scooter and DO NOT READ INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!!!

Kinda cool thing happened yesterday. I took the scooter on a fund raiser ride and about everyone else was riding Hd's. When the guy that set it up told the kids he wanted to take their picture next to one of the bikes they all wanted their pictures took standing by the scooter. It is a true saying that dogs are a Blessing! They just need a little TLC and a little bit of high octane!

I rode yesterday farther than I have ever riden in one day on the scooter, about 260 miles!!! Take a trip through the Tennessee back roads, I almost said back woods but then someone might think I was a Redneck.

Hope you are having a great weekend,

Nice there bro! It's always good to get love on your dog. When I ride with my parents we always get people to tell us which paint is their favorite. Dad has purgatory w/ gold leaf on his k9 and mom has furnace flames on her pit. I've got the marble tear, and it's always a toss up! 260 miles will make you appreciate the back of a chair. I rode about 200 miles on the Talimena drive here in OK and Arkansas with my folks.

I used Mr. Buffer on my pegs about the same way that you used mothers and was impressed with the results! It really made me feel better about the bike with my hand controls and footpegs shining. :D

Looks great those pegs are a pain to polish. I have replaced mine with banded chrome. Keep on reading your bible.
