This is what I found when I went to pull the cam on my 03 BD Chopper............


LOOK CLOSLEY AT THE YELLOW AND COUNT THE TEETH, something don't look right.

THIS IS THE WAY I LINED UP THE CAM AND CRANK



AM I blind or what??

So when you pulled the cover the marks weren't lined up correct? and did you rotate the motor to line up the timing marks before you pulled the cam?

Looks right to me! 7 teeth if you turned your motor over on your first pic it would line up.

But I think If you didn't align them prior to pulling I'm not sure how you got the cam in?

NO, the top pic is as I pulled the cover, I couldn't turn the engine.

What the Hell was the yellow dot for?? The engine had NOT been down before

No your not blind, you just need to rotate the engine until you have it at TDC which is where all the marking will line up. Then you pull the lifters followed by the cam. Don't for get to line up the lifter blocks and install new cam bearing. The yellow dot could be that he advanced the cam one tooth or about 4 degrees.

I was wondering about how much advance that could be. I put it back straight and it starts better
and is a heck of a lot stronger in mid and top end, pulls real strong.
Much more ridable blows off first, second and third also will hit the
revlimiter much quicker. To me just all around better performance.

In order to turn the motor, pull the plugs and put it in gear and turn the back tire, you should be on a stand though.

BIggest thing is I didn't roll the engine over to line up the crank and cam before removing it.
I really didn't care because I thought it was a smaller cam.

Next step is going to an .080 main jet, try it and decide from there BUT it's raining here so today's out
