charging system check

I was checking the charging system on a 2005 big dog chopper. The battery was not getting charged. Did a stator test, stator ok, figured it must be the voltage regulator. Probed regulator to battery wire with test light to make sure there was power, no power. The battery wire from the regulator goes to a circuit breaker under the seat. Probed the posts on the circuit breaker to make sure power was getting through it, it was not. Then I noticed that there is a reset button on the side of the circuit breaker, which had tripped, pushed the button back in, charging system fixed. Just a FYI post that might be helpful when checking your charging system. I did not know that these bikes had a reset button on the circuit breaker, maybe you didn't either!

Welcome from NJ,
Another thing you should know about Big Dogs is that the CB only protects the battery from a short in the charging system. You should add an extra CB between the EHC and the battery to protect the EHC from a shorted battery. Common cause of smoking the EHC.
