Channging Fork Oil

If anyone has access to an oil/fluid extractor pump it makes life very simple to change the fork oil. My local car wash/oil change has one that is air pressure operated. It only took a few minutes to extract the fork oil through a hose. I only had to remove the two caps on the top triple tree.

Not even time for a beverage it went so fast!!!

I will have to study about this one cause I dont think mine has fork oil in it but I no that I got shock oil but I dont no how often you are supposed to change it

Not a very good thing in my opinion. I like to take mine down and clean out the shit that builds up on the bottom of the fork legs. When I change my fork oil, I also change the bushings and all seals. That is just me to each is own. :2thumbs:

I got you this time Carlos I was studyin how long it wood take for somebody to notice yes I got shock oil in the shocks on my springer 3.5 ounces on each one you fill it when you build the front end

I'm not sure on Dogs but Harley says every 50K. I change mine every year and it's always pretty dirty. I ride about 10-12K per year.

If you seed the instructions on instalating them Dragon Springers you be confused to... they send you a one page pitcher and expect you to be a rocket scientist and asemble the damm thing but they dont say when to change the shock oil

With the the oil/fluid extractor you can measure what you are taking out by putting the second hose in a measuring cup. I hit 10500 on my K-9 yesterday and was getting some wobble after hitting some bumps on the highway at a certain undisclosed speed range. The fork oil was silver and definitely shot. I would change it at 5k next time like other members suggested in their posts. Since it is the middle of summer I did not want to break down the front end to clean it out. I will do that at the end of this riding season. I want to change the neck bearings and wheel bearings like GasMan did at the same time.



Now Carlos it is a chopper. You don't have to clean it every time like your M4!!!! :flag:

Hey Jerry, I just changed the wheel bearing in Postman's bike at not quiet 9000 miles while we put on new tires. The bearings were is surprisingly bad shape for a sealed unit. If you are getting excessive wobble in the front end, you might want to give those bearing a quick look. Just sayin

Thanks Steve. Was it easy to change the wheel bearings? Do I need any special tools to get the bearings out? I am hoping I did not bend the rim when I hit a friggin hill where they stopped milling on a highway in Pennsyltuckey last week. I still have a slight wobble between I'd say 70-85 mph. Not a constant wobble. Only when the highway gets slightly rough. Changing the fork oil helped somewhat.
