I cleaned the conectors on ehc and plugs and put ne diaelectric grease, I will double check the eyelet. Also I didnt do both at same time, but when it was acting up I disconnected left switch, hit right control, horn blew and bike died. Pressed run, then start and fired up then disconnected right control and hit left control and bike died.

Where were the connectors at that you unplugged? Does the horn always honk when it dies?

I unplugged the two connectors on top of ehc. Yes horn always bows and i've noticed a few time...lets say i'm riding down the road. Pull in clutch, hit rear brake, horn blows, bike shuts off and if i hold the brake down the horn blows while i'm coasting. If I let off brake, horn stops,I can do this a few times before the horn just stops blowing all together if that makes sense. Also sometimes after it dies and I come to a stop, I hit the run button, then start and bike will try to start then horn blows( all within a few seconds) and have to hit run again then start.

Sounds like a bad ground connection. The horn blowing would indicate a low voltage condition possibly created by a high resistance connection. Possibly even a bad cable. Keep looking and good luck.

Ok, I didn't make myself clear on my last question...where did you unplug the handle bar controls when doing your diagnosis? At the handlebars or near the ehc? (and Im not talking about the big plugs on the ehc.)

I think you need to unplug the handlebar controls near the ehc while the bike is running and hit the rear brake to see if you get the same dieing/horn honk results. (that would possibly eliminate the back bone harness) Im trying to have you take things a logical step at a time.

It still may just be worth the $$$ to buy a RIP kit.

Sorry Mike, I misunderstood. I unplugged right at the controls on handlebars. I believe everything meets in the middle under the tank, I will try to disconnect there but how am I gonna start it and unplug etc with the tank off?

I was thinking that there are two 8 pin handlebar control connectors behind the side covers near the ehc. Maybe someone else with a Ridgeback could confirm that. My Bulldog does not have plugs under the tank.

And if they are under the tank, that does kind of screw up the diagnosis procedure.

I disconnected the top connector of the horn so it wouldn't be as embarrassing haha but unfortunately it still dies when its off.

Can you make a temporary stand for the tank and get a longer piece of hose? I know its a hassel, but at this point I would've contacted Liferider and borrowed his M4 and put this bitch to bed:lol: This sucks

What symptoms were you having?
When i pushed the horn button the bike was completely dead, and sometimes the horn went off , hazard light on and off course the bike shut down

Right now i installed a replacement ehc i had, so low beam is not working no big deal, but im going to buy the RIP kit, i read about it and i think is our best bet if we want to keep the bikes running as they should.

If you get a used EHC you will have problems sooner or later, also a used one is like $300 and up of course no warranty

Ok, still trying to figure this out. Bike ran good for a few rides and then started acting up again. When it was acting up, I drove straight home and threw the ehc on the tester and it passed several times. Put the ehc back on bike and fired it up. When the bike dies, the air compressor light and horn light come on on the ehc for a second and the bike dies and air ride mode light comes on until I hit the run button then the ignition light comes on. So whatever is shorting etc it is kicking the bike into air ride mode and that's why starter wont work until I hit run to reboot ignition system( whats weird is I have a rigid so why is the air lights coming on?). Also every time I hit the horn button, the horn light on ehc comes on...is it supposed to? Any ideas? Thanks everyone for all the help.

That's why that test box isn't worth a pile of beans unless you have the software to go with it not to mention a test bench to actually test it in a real world type situation.

So you think it might still be the ehc Curtis? I'm wondering if somewhere the ignition system is bad and that's why it is kicking in air ride mode?

Also I tested the ehc when bike was dying and passed test multiple times and immediately hooked harness back up and bike was dying at use of blinkers or horn or brake, i'm starting to feel the ehc isn't the problem..yet.
