Hi Everyone:

Quick question:

I would like to remove my PM Brake Calipers (04 Ridgeback) and have them professionally polished.

I want to complete this all by myself and would like to replace them when polished.

Where can I find some help on bleeding the brakes, or any information on restoring a motorcycle brake system.

Or should I just have them removed, polished and restored by my local bike shop.

Thanks in advance. Ride safe:2thumbs:

Its as simple as bleeding the brakes. I have been thinking about getting speed bleeders though... need to pull the bleeders out and check the thread size...

dude bleeding brakes is easy.

How to Bleed Your Brakes - Step-by-Step Expert Advice - Popular Mechanics

cars are the same as bikes. make sure that you use the right fluid and get some new washers for the banjo bolts when you replace the brake line on the caliper.

take some pics of the caliper so you will reember how it goes back on with the correct shims ect.

polish the hell out of them and replace.

If you have problems while you do it ask.

If you are not comfortable doing this don't do it brakes must work

Yeah I basically did the same thing.. pulled one too many bolts trying to get the calipers out... and the whole damn bike fell apart!!

You can get the new banjo bolt washers...which are basically copper washers, at most auto stores. Hit up the local stores vs the big chains... they will be more applicable to help.

I will check my bleeders later when I wake up (working mid nights right now...and still at work... its 6am and been here sense 1830 yesterday! DUH)

Then I will post a link... the speed bleeders make a one man job. I just need to check the size...

I would suggest Bel Ray DOT 5... they make great stuff.

The speed bleeders are a replacement to your bleeders. It has a check vlv in it. After you replace your bleeders on your caliper with this one... that is it. Simple spin them open a bit... and instead of pump pump hold... you just pump pump pump pump pump pump Everytime you pump it pushes out the air or old fluid but with the check vlv it doesn't allow anything back in.

Our sizes

Rear 3/8-24 x 1.19"

SpeedBleeders

Got that website from Goodridge themselves. They sell them by thread size not bike model. The prices are for sets.

I am checking with nelson to see if he can get them, if not I'll order a set from here.

Yeah that's all you have to do. Run a tube to a bottle or somin. But you don't have to put it in any fluid like you have seen done with standard bleeders. That is the reason for the built in check vlv.

i'm getting them regardless...

Yeah I'm going to give them a try and let everybody know... then if they like them... maybe you can stock some. Should make changing your brake fluid alot less difficult or less time consuming.
